💙🎉 We're Celebrating Our First Walmart Spark Good Local Grant! 🎉💙

Love Beyond Labels is excited to announce that we have been awarded a $250 Walmart Spark Good Local Grant from the Ferguson Walmart Saint Louis - W Florissant Ave (Facility #1265)!

This grant will support our Autism Family Resource & Community Support Initiative, helping us continue to connect individuals and families impacted by autism with education, advocacy, resources, and community support throughout the St. Louis area.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Ferguson Walmart team for investing in our mission and helping us make a difference in the lives of individuals with autism and their families.

Every partnership, every donation, and every opportunity brings us one step closer to creating a more inclusive community where every individual is valued, supported, and empowered.

If you're raising or supporting a teen or young adult with a disability, you don't have to navigate the transition to adulthood alone.

I'm excited to share that I've been invited to serve on the Parent Panel and represent Love Beyond Labels as a Resource Fair vendor at the upcoming Disability Transition Conference hosted by BCI (Boone Center Inc.)!

This conference is designed to help families prepare for what's next by providing practical resources, valuable information, and meaningful connections.

✨Learn about education, employment, independent living, life skills, and community resources.

✨ Meet more than 40 organizations that are committed to supporting individuals with disabilities and their families.

✨ Connect with other parents who understand the journey.

✨ Visit the Love Beyond Labels resource table—I would love to meet you and share information about our programs and community resources.

💙 A Special Needs Parent's Reality 💙

One of the hardest lessons I've learned as a parent of a child with special needs is that you can never fully let your guard down.

Not because you want to live in defense mode, but because you're constantly protecting your child's heart.

Many people assume that because someone has special needs, they don't notice when they're left out, ignored, overlooked, or treated differently. The truth is, they do. They may express it differently, but they feel it deeply.

My son is one of the most loving people you'll ever meet. He'll scroll through his contacts and call someone just to say, "I was checking on you to see how you're doing." His calls may only last a minute or two, but they come from a genuine place of love.

Sometimes those calls go unanswered. Sometimes they're not returned.

When he wants to visit someone, what feels like a simple request to him can feel like an inconvenience to others. As his mom, I have to navigate those moments carefully. I have to help him understand things that shouldn't have to be explained.

Some days I'm strong enough to address situations head-on and keep moving. Other days are harder. Those are the days when I watch the disappointment settle into his eyes. The days when I see the hurt that comes from not being received with the same enthusiasm and love that he freely gives to everyone around him.

The reality is that many special needs parents aren't just advocating for services, programs, and opportunities. We're advocating for inclusion, friendship, acceptance, and genuine connection.

Our children are not projects. They are not burdens. They are not inconveniences.

They are human beings with feelings, emotions, hopes, and hearts that deserve to be valued.

So today, I encourage everyone: Answer the call. Return the text. Make the visit. Include them in the conversation.

You may never fully understand how much those small acts of kindness mean, but I promise you, they matter.
