A few weeks ago, we posted about the 6 affiliate libraries here in Hunterdon County. Through that post, we were made aware that although Raritan Valley Community College's Evelyn S. Field Library is not an affiliate library, all Hunterdon County residents are eligible to get a library card at this library to check materials out at the Evelyn S. Field Library at Raritan Valley Community College.

Evelyn S. Field Library doesn't just have academic titles; they have popular books too and when there's often a very long wait list on new popular fiction at the county libraries, the RVCC copy doesn't have a long wait list and is often just waiting to be checked out!

. When music meets books. Under those rhinestones and wigs was one of the biggest hearts ever to beat. Dolly Parton was many things to many people and the world is better for it: From music to movies to the Imagination Library. May her memory always be a blessing.

Tonight, I’ll toast Dolly, my dearest ‘Book Lady’ - a title she loved and greatly honored with her incredible work with literacy and children. I wish I could go back and tell my younger self, an abandoned wildchild of the 60s growing up in a rural Kentucky orphanage that Dolly will be your biggest inspiration, rising out of poverty just like you.

Dolly always lifted up others, and her support and love of my books meant the world to me, inspiring me to dream bigger for myself than I could ever imagine. That she was moved by my words will never cease to amaze me. The fact that she kept my book on her nightstand for years and was so inspired that she created an album (yet to be published) of 15 songs she titled "The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek" for me has been life changing and one of my greatest gifts and biggest joys.

I am blessed and honored to have crossed paths with her in this lifetime. In one of her personal letters to me, Dolly wrote, “The greatest gift is to twice give it.” Rest in peace dear Dolly, I aim to do just that to honor you, and thank you for sharing your gifts to the world. I will always love you. ❤

. We have a section of the book sale set up time known as Book Rehab to remove Mylar covers, fix little rips, and remove stickers. It doesn’t take much to make the books look great for the book sale customers!

. Imagine being able to view all the book kits in person…this looks marvelous! FOHCL is proud to fund the book kits through the funds raised from the annual book sale.

Book Club Kits are now available at our Headquarters Library! Patrons can borrow a kit containing ten copies of each book for their discussion group! Check out our selection behind the reference desk on our first floor, or place a hold through our online catalog. Kits can also be shipped to other locations for pickup, and can be borrowed for up to 42 days. Featuring popular reads by Kristin Hannah, Margaret Atwood, Matt Haig, and more!

What is an affiliate library? An affiliate library in the Hunterdon County Library system is an independent local community library that partners with the county system. There are six affiliate libraries throughout Hunterdon County: Bunnvale, Frenchtown, Holland, Readington, Tewksbury, and Three Bridges.

Valid Hunterdon County library cards are accepted at all affiliate libraries, allowing local residents to borrow books, share resources, and access community services closer to home. HCL card holders also have access to the Main Library Alliance catalog, Makerspace, and many other programs at Headquarters and North Hunterdon County Library in Clinton.
