Friends of the Hunterdon County Library

Friends of the Hunterdon County Library FOHCL promotes use of the Library. We sponsor adult and youth programs as well as concerts and museum pass programs.

We organize fund-raisers such as the annual spring book sale and basket raffle, direct donation programs, and corporate grants.

. May her memory always be a blessing. My favorite Jane Yolen book was Briar Rose, a powerful retelling of Sleeping Beauty. If you have read her books, share your favorite.

Jane Yolen, author of 450 books and hundreds of poems, died on Thursday, June 11, her daughter, Heidi Stemple, said. She was 87. Among her many works, Yolen wrote 'The Devil's Arithmetic,' which was adapted into a film starring Kirsten Dunst.

Registration is now open for our third Beyond the Page Author Talk Event-- An Evening with Tia Williams! We are so excited to have Tia join us as she discusses her new novel, The Missed Connection! This event will be in conversation with local bookstore owners, Stefanie Mandelberg and Kelsey DiMeglio, from Charmed & Bound, along with an audience Q&A and book signing. Books will be available for purchase. Beyond the Page is generously sponsored by FOHCL, Friends of the Hunterdon County Library.

June 10, 1928: Oh Maurice Sendak, we love you so! The prickly, big-hearted children's book writer was born 85 years ago today in Brooklyn, New York. The monsters in his classic, Where the Wild Things Are, were inspired by his immigrant family.

The Summer Reading is warming up! Join FOHCL and other library patrons in the Unearth a Story summer reading program for children, teens, and adults. You can sign up via Beanstalk or pick up a paper copy at either of the three branches. Also, join in the Clinton Reading Challenge - a timed reading challenge again six other Clinton Libraries across the country! Let's show these other libraries just how much FOHCL loves our Clinton Library!!

Today is Memorial Day, a somber day, a day to remember and honor all US men and women who have fallen while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Taps, the most poignant 24 notes played, breaks me every time I hear it. The unofficial words to Taps is from the first verse of a poem titled “Day Is Done”

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake, from the skies.
All is well,
safely rest,
God is nigh.

So today, raise a glass and toast those no longer here but forever guarding us from afar. 🇺🇸🎖️💔⭐
