Three transgender men in Kansas intentionally used women’s restrooms and changing areas to expose what they call the “absurd consequences” of the state’s new bathroom law.

At a Dodge City water park, patrons reportedly did not realize the men were transgender because of their rugged appearance. The manager then rushed children out of the area and called police.

The men said they were following the law as written, which bases bathroom access on s*x assigned at birth, but were still forced to give police invasive descriptions of their bodies to avoid arrest.

The protesters, part of the KS SB244 Compliance Crew, say the law — marketed as a way to keep men out of women’s spaces — actually requires some men to enter them.

They’ve staged similar protests at public facilities across Kansas, arguing that policing people based on appearance creates more opportunities for harassment and discrimination.

The group says its goal is to show that the law does little to improve safety while putting ordinary Kansans in the position of policing who belongs in a bathroom.
