This November's medical mission to Bolivia, our team met a 13-year-old girl who had suffered for years with gallstones and chronic pain. Dr. Andrew Aldridge took excellent care of her.

Her sister couldn’t miss work to be at our pre-op clinic—but she was by her side on surgery day.

She is now pain-free and healing beautifully and eager to get back to her cows. 💛

NAVMC worked closely with Gabriela—one of the true heroes of this trip.
She runs the clinic in Palacios, screens every potential patient, supports families, and stands beside our team all week long.

During NAVMC's 2025 medical mission to Bolivia this month, Maria came to our team with a large ovarian cyst that required a long and complex surgery.

Dr. Phillip Williams spent nearly three hours carefully removing the cyst, while anesthesiologist Dr. Brian Balanoff kept Maria safely and comfortably under anesthesia throughout the procedure.

Her family will now take the specimen to the city for pathology to ensure she receives complete follow-up care.

On NAVMC’s 2025 medical mission to rural Bolivia, we had the privilege of caring for seven-year-old Franco.

His inguinal hernia caused pain and kept him from playing with his friends. He was nervous in pre-op… but after surgery with Dr. Andrew Aldridge he left recovery smiling from ear to ear.

Kids deserve to live pain-free. 💙

On our November 2025 mission to rural Bolivia, we met a patient who had carried an expanding neck mass for 11 years after every surgeon refused to treat it.

This week, Dr. Andrew Aldridge changed that.

When the patient woke in recovery, Dr. Andy smiled and said, “Muy guapo.”
The patient cried tears of joy. ❤️

🌍 Meet one of Northern Arizona Volunteer Medical Corps’ outstanding surgeons! 🌍

Dr. Andrew Aldridge is a name many in Flagstaff know well. As one of Arizona’s top trauma and bariatric surgeons, he has served as the Medical Director of Trauma Services and is currently the Director of Surgical Education at Flagstaff Medical Center. But did you know he's also been a dedicated volunteer with NAVMC since 2015?

Over the past several years, Dr. Aldridge has performed more than 200 life-changing surgeries for rural patients in Bolivia, delivering state-of-the-art care entirely free of charge. Pictured here with a grateful patient post-op, he just completed a hernia operation yesterday.
