June 25th, the Great Race, which really is pretty darned great, stops for an overnight in Flagstaff. The cars are scheduled to roll in at 5:00 pm - Downtown on Aspen Street. You won't want to miss this!

2026 HEMMINGS GREAT RACE PRESENTED BY COKER TIRE STOPS IN FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA

The Hemmings Great Race presented by Coker Tire is a nine-day classic car rally that spans more than 2,300 miles and features 140 of the world’s finest antique automobiles. The event uses a new route each year and features 17 hosted city stops along the way. For 2026, the Great Race is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Mother Road with a Route 66 themed event that starts in Springfield, Illinois on Saturday, June 20 and ends in Pasadena, California on Sunday, June 28 with many historic towns and attractions along the way. This includes a hosted evening stop on Aspen Avenue in Flagstaff, Arizona on Thursday, June 25th at 5:00pm MST."

It is with great sadness that we share the loss of Dr. T Lindsay Baker of Texas, who was killed in a motor vehicle accident while participating in the Main Street of America Route 66 Centennial Caravan and was the caravan's official Texas state representative. His passion for Route 66 was well-known and his knowledge widely respected. We send our deepest condolences to Dr. Baker's family and friends at this difficult time, and hope they will find comfort in his memory.

Cruise reminder -Rt 66 Car Club of Flagstaff club members are driving to the Jack Rabbitt
Trading Post tomorrow to enjoy the car and bike show. Meet up is at the Verizon Parking area - Rt 66 and Switzer Canyon at 8:30 am wheels roll at 9:00 am. We aren't going to enter the show, but to be spectators. If you want to enter, you have to be at the Trading Post by 9:00 am so get an earlier start if that's your plan.

For those wanting even more Rt 66 goodness, the Rt 66 Centennial Caravan comes through town on Wed. June 10th. The official location is the Pony Soldier Motel, and organizers are hoping to be able to use the Kachina Square area as well. I have not heard yet if that is a go. People are invited to bring their own cool cars down and see the ones on the caravan. Sounds like a ripping good time.
