Today marks 25 years since International Overdose Awareness Day began. That’s 25 years of raising awareness for the lives lost to the disease of addiction. 25 years of putting faces to names, sharing their stories, and honoring their memory. 25 years of remembering that every life lost was so much more than the way they died. 💜

On Thursday, Recovery Collaboration Project had the honor of hosting the Overdose Awareness Vigil in the City of Fitchburg. Together, we remembered the loved ones we have lost to this disease and spoke about who they were; their lives, their stories, and the impact they left behind.

A special thank you to the City of Fitchburg for trusting us with the opportunity to bring our community together for such an important evening. We are also incredibly grateful to each of our speakers who stood up and shared their experiences, their grief, their strength, and their recovery, reminding others that recovery is possible and that there is always hope.

We cannot do this work alone. We must continue to stand together, support one another, and make sure the lives we have lost are never forgotten.

Here’s to continuing to spread awareness, spread hope, and collaborate. 💜
