Sarge and Zoe are such an adorable senior pair, both in fantastic shape and they’re eager to have a loving home. 8 and 9 years old but they are active, affectionate and super smart. They have been great with other dogs but not so great with cats unfortunately. Housebroken, command trained, not destructive and well behaved. Does it get any better?

Meet one of our newer additions…this is Tracy. She was shy, shut down and scared at her animal shelter but super sweet so we wanted to give her a second chance. She is a slight mix, possibly Dobie/Shepherd and she’s probably about 3 years old. When she first arrived she didn’t have much experience on leash and tried to hide anywhere she could but she’s been improving massively. She still needs someone who can patiently introduce her to new things and not expect her to adjust immediately. She likes having a safe space like a crate, dog house or bed in the corner to hang out but the more she trusts someone, the more she likes to follow them around. Tracy has been good with other dogs and while we think shy dogs can gain a lot of confidence and experience through living with another dog, it wouldn’t be a requirement for her. A present, patient and calm family would be ideal for her and we know her silly side will come through. How can you resist that smile? ☺️

Ebony is believed to be a Doberman-Great Dane mix, and she was a humane case that we felt compelled to rescue so that the second half of her life can make up for the first half. She bears no ill will toward anyone and is exuberant meeting anyone that offers her attention. Ebony is compatible with her male Dobie mix kennelmate, though she doesn’t seem to require another dog for company; she’s all about humans. She is 5 years old and weighs about 80 pounds.

Rescue is a multifaceted, never ending job of care, cleaning, organizing, managing and communicating but we do it all for them. So that one more life can be saved and get a second chance. Every dollar donated is for them, every long day on sore muscles is for them, every sacrifice is for them. Thank you for being our support system so we can keep showing up for them. Love you all! 💕

Jasmine was the proverbial “train wreck” on arrival. Her previous guardian had passed away, and there was no one able to take her in. Family members that knew her previously described Jasmine as a great lap dog (all 95+ pounds of her!), just wanting love and hugs, and good with kids. The shelter staff described her as polite and good with dogs of all sizes. Physically Jasmine needed medical help and that is why the shelter sought rescue for her. She required entropion surgery for eyelids turned inward, where eyelashes can damage the eyes over time. She also had a massive ear infection that has been treated and is continuing to be monitored. Though she’ll have some scarring indefinitely from her lack of proper health maintenace, we think her looking unique does not detract from her big-girl beauty. She is 6 years old (as of August, 2026).

Sage is a small blue Dobie girl with somewhat of an outsize personality. She is vigilant and quite a good watchdog, trying to act like she is “all business” but deep down she’s a sensitive and sweet soul. Sage has both a male and female Dobie kennelmate and she’s social with both but it took her a moment to feel comfortable and not defensive so slow introductions are best for her. She now follows around her gentle female kennelmate giving kisses and snuggles. She’s an active 5-year-old girl weighing about 55 pounds.

The “little paws” had a fun day out at Tractor Supply in Ventura today! Chito, Marty, Mortimer, Scout, and Pumpkin were all so well behaved and were so proud of them. Chito didn’t like the looks of a couple of unsavory characters that approached but we don’t blame him and we were actually happy for a bit of security. Scout and Marty gave some kisses while Pumpkin enjoys belly rubs. All of them are still available for adoption!!

Come see us tomorrow! We’re going to bring some of our non-Dobies that don’t get noticed here at the rescue and some of them might just get lucky. Mortimer, Marty, Pumpkin, and Scout are on the list of dogs coming along but we may have a surprise guest. If you want to volunteer let us know!

Does anyone have any experience with RuffLand Kennels ?

We have a couple of escape artists who are no match for usual store bought crates and we need to keep them safe. We’ve tried some of the other “no escape” kennels before but are disappointed with the ability to properly clean them, put them together or even provide comfort for the dog. These crates are an investment ranging from $500-$900 but we’ve heard some good reviews. Anybody use them before and would anybody be interested in donating one? Used is ok too!
