Brucey arrived at his central valley animal shelter about the first of July and became an almost instant favorite. The proof is that they neutered him a couple of weeks after his arrival so that he would be ready for immediate adoption, and he was still kept safe untl late August, though the summer doldrums probably lessened his chances at adoption. Upon arrival with us Brucey greeted every dog playfully, as though he felt surrounded by fans. He’s not quite a Doberman, given the size of his huge head and body mass. He’s about 2 years old and weighs 80 pounds, so he might be a bit too big for small kids, but he has a winning temperament and should be a lot of fun to own.

Brett is not only a very handsome, classic Doberman, he has a friendly, tolerant temperament as well. He has only two behavioral negatives that we have observed. One is that he likes to jump on people exuberantly when they enter his space, though he does respond well to correction. The other negative is that he apparently likes chewing things, as he demonstrated when left in an area with toys and a few used collars and leashes. Brett would do best with an active person or couple to provide the mental and physical stimulation he needs to not feel bored. His age was noted as 3 years old and his weight at 65 pounds.

Aliyah is an energetic and vibrant girl who would love a family who loves to have fun. She is a beautiful, all natural girl who came to us with a horrible ear infection from some kind of trauma that healed well. She is a young adult, about 2 years old with a tall lanky body. She loves to play with toys or just race around the yard so she would be ideal for adventure seekers looking for a devoted companion. Aliyah has lived with male and female larger dogs but she’s a bit socially awkward and needs a human advocate who enjoys training. She wants to play but can be pushy and even rude at times. She can also be defensive if approached in a forceful manner by another dog. She needs help navigating those initial interactions out in the world where it can be overstimulating. Once they’re friends she massively enjoys other dogs but introductions should be done properly. Aliyah is the ideal dog for someone who appreciates the intelligence, athleticism and devotion of the Doberman breed.

When Maverick arrived with us, we affectionately called him our adorable train wreck. He was recovering from a fully treatable case of demodectic mange, which is not contagious and is normally curable with a single oral medication. Sadly, his ex-owner probably didn’t care to bother. Maverick is very social with people and other dogs of both sexes, and he’s a European large-boned guy in the 80+ weight category. His skin is almost totally normal now and he’s ready to learn how to bond with a human, something he has probably never had the chance to experience. He’s loving the affection we’re giving him but he seems to seek out the company of other dogs so we’re hoping to find him a home with a doggie buddy. He’s 2-3 years old.

Russell is the definition of “Velcro dobie” and glues himself to everyone he meets. If you’re looking for a truly devoted companion who worships the ground you walk on, we’ve got the boy for you. He’ll be a lapdog if you let him and he’ll watch the door whenever to you need to use the bathroom (dobie owners understand that one). He’s also submissive and sweet with other dogs (we’ve only introduced him to large ones so far). We’ve got your forever walking companion or movie marathon snuggle buddy right here so do not wait and come meet Russell! He’s only about 2-3 years old and about 65 pounds.
