FHS Interact Club and other youth groups like 4-H, Cub & Boy Scouts, One Step a la Vez, and others participated in the VC Coastal Clean up in Fillmore today. Giving back to their Community!

DG Margarida Eidson visited our Club and spoke about this new Rotary year. She also helped us induct two new members - Cinda Francis and Dr. Luca Lewis. Asst.Gov. Jack Po***ck also visited.

Rotarian Dave Andersen donated a flat of fresh Strawberries and The Treasure Station donated a gift basket of local goodies like honey and avocados that President John Garnica presented to DG Eidson.

Starting our Dictionary project! We got together at Rotarians Dick & Martha Richardson's home to place 4-Way Test stickers inside 333 dictionaries. We then spent a little social time together. Thank you Martha and Dick!
We will be delivering these books to all Fillmore Unified School 3rd graders in the coming weeks. Thank you Martha for taking the lead on this yearly project.

We recently had Dr. Luca Lewis speak at our Club meeting. Dr. Lewis is President of Ventura College. He has extensive higher education experience throughout the state of Washington and Idaho working and teaching at numerous Universities, Colleges and Community Colleges. In 2025 he was appointed Interim President of Ventura College and subsequently named President. Welcome to Ventura College Dr. Lewis!

Speaker Natalie Garnica, is a Senior Staff Attorney with Public Counsel, the largest non-profit public interest law firm in California. Her area of practice is providing legal counsel to former foster children on family law matters. Natalie is a 2009 graduate of Fillmore High School, a 2013 graduate of UCLA and a 2017 graduate of Loyola Law School. She lives in Fillmore with her husband Kyle and their two sons, Daniel and Adrian.
She is also the eldest daughter of our President John Garnica. 😁

In honor of Dolly Parton’s incredible legacy, her family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. ❤️📚

It feels especially fitting that one of the best ways to honor Dolly is by continuing something she cared so deeply about—putting books into the hands of children and inspiring a lifelong love of reading.

Through the Imagination Library, Dolly’s impact will continue to reach children and families for generations to come.

What a beautiful way to honor a life that has given so much to so many. ❤️

Members of Fillmore FFA came for a visit last week. They will be at VC Fair beginning Monday until Fair ends. The students told us about the animal they are raising, how long they have been in FFA. They all answered questions from Rotarians thoughtfully and confidently.
