This week, the Kiwanis Club of Farmington was pleased to welcome Margo Pigg, MEd, LPC, MBA, Director of Clinical Services, and Rebecca Poindexter, Director for Access and Integration at BJC Behavioral Health. Margo shared about their mission, the services they provide, and the many ways they connect with and support our community. We are grateful for the work they do and for Margo taking the time to share it with us!

The Kiwanis Club of Farmington was happy to welcome Ken Curfman, executive director of the United Way of St. Francois County, as our guest speaker today!

Ken shared information about the organization’s work in our community, including awarding more than $98,000 in grants to 24 local nonprofit agencies. He also discussed the annual “Dine Out for United Way” restaurant fundraiser series and opportunities to volunteer for bell ringing this holiday season. 🔔

We appreciate Ken taking the time to visit with us and share ways our community can get involved and make a difference!

The Kiwanis Club of Farmington was excited to cheer on the Farmington Knights during their football game! Our members joined the action from the sidelines by serving as the chain crew and helping keep the game moving.

Thank you to everyone who volunteers their time to support Farmington students and athletics. We love being part of the Knights community! 🖤💛

We were joined at today’s Kiwanis meeting by Amy Welker of Big Door Coffee House! ☕️

Amy shared more about their mission to create a welcoming, inclusive space where people can connect, build relationships, and find support. Big Door Coffee House is more than a place to grab a great cup of coffee — it’s focused on creating community and providing opportunities for people of all abilities to learn, work, and belong.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn more about the work Big Door is doing in our community. Thank you, Amy, for joining us and sharing your story!

Yesterday, the Kiwanis Club of Farmington welcomed Lilly Combs, a third-year medical student at the University of Missouri School of Medicine, for an important conversation about opioid overdose recognition and Narcan (naloxone).

Lilly shared information on recognizing the signs of an overdose, how Narcan can help, and the importance of being prepared to respond in an emergency. Her work is part of Mizzou’s Rural Scholars program and a Community Integration Project focused on understanding our community’s knowledge and perspectives around opioid use, overdose and lifesaving methods.

We appreciate Lilly taking the time to educate and equip our community with knowledge that truly can save a life. 💙

Today, we were grateful to welcome Holli Ledbetter with the Rotary Club of St Francois Co. and Jeff Crites, St. Francois County Sheriff to our Kiwanis meeting.

We’re especially thankful for the organizations and individuals who continue to show up for our community. The Kiwanis Club of Farmington was proud to present a donation to the Park Hills Long Term Recovery Committee and East Missouri Action Agency to support the ongoing recovery efforts in Old Elvins.

The Rotary Club continues to challenge local organizations and businesses to match their $1,000 donation—and we hope others will join in supporting these important recovery efforts.

Sheriff Crites also shared updates from the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Office, including the department’s RSAT residential substance abuse treatment program, transport and inmate operations, facility improvements, fleet updates and efforts to keep the community informed through social media.

We appreciate the people who are working every day to make St. Francois County stronger. That’s what community is all about. 💙

We are proud to serve our community alongside the caring members of the Rotary Club of St Francois Co.

We are excited to announce that the Kiwanis Club of Farmington, MO is the latest organization to rise to the challenge and donate to the recovery efforts from the flooding in Elvins. Seeing neighboring community organizations not only recognize the need, but step up to meet it, is why we, as members, believe wholeheartedly in our clubs.

East Missouri Action Agency continues to accept donations for recovery efforts in the Elvins area of Park Hills. The total raised through the Rotary Challenge so far is $3000.
