We were proud to host Adam King, Water & Resource Coordinator, with the City of Faribault, Minnesota - City Government to cut a promo to tell everyone about the City's Diseased Tree Removal program. Thanks to a grant from the Department of Natural Resources, certain homeowners meeting specific household income guidelines may qualify for free tree removal and replacement. Anyone else can spread the cost of tree removal out over 5 years as a special assessment on their property taxes. Check out Adam's promo and follow the links to learn more.

The first shovels are in the ground for phase 2 of the Cherry Trail realignment project - a collaborative project between the City of Faribault, Minnesota - City Government and River Bend Nature Center. Last summer, the City of Faribault removed the old, failing Cherry Trail bridge and installed an ADA accessible paved trail between the cemetery and upper parking lot. In the days ahead, River Bend will be installing a small, covered, ADA accessible shade structure, picnic tables, porta-potty, and trail maps at the Cherry Trail trailhead.

The project is made possible by a coalition of funders including the City of Faribault, an Age Friendly Minnesota grant from the State of Minnesota, a Rice County SHIP grant, and a memorial gift from the family of a River Bend supporter.

We're looking to hanging out in the shade with you this summer!

You may have heard that River Bend is helping the City of Faribault kick some Ash ........................................Borer out of Faribault :)

Come down to Heritage Days tonight and tomorrow and talk with Kate and other River Bend staff about (and sign up for) the City's new ReLeaf program that provides assistance to homeowners to remove and replace dead and dying ash trees from your property to help mitigate the impacts of Emerald Ash Borer through the region!

We might also haves some maple syrup for sale!

Not the prettiest nature center photos but still exciting! We've been collecting and processing donations from over 50 families for our yard sale fundraiser this weekend! Join us on Friday, June 5 from 9am to 4:30pm and Saturday, June 6 from 10:30am to 3pm for all kinds of new-to-you treasures! Vintage toys, clothes, housewares, tools, sporting goods, art - if you need it, we have it. If you don't need it, we still have too :)
