Join the community effort to collect new and gently used coats and winter gear for all ages in Faribault and Northfield. The greatest need is for gender-neutral, adult-sized WARM winter coats – these appeal to teens and adults alike – as well as hats, scarves, mittens/gloves and boots. (Children's sizes also accepted.) Please ensure your donations are CLEAN, contain NO HOLES or TEARS, and have working ZIPPERS. Collection sites are listed on the poster.

Rice County Public Health is offering public influenza vaccination clinics throughout Rice County in the month of October.

Both trivalent and high dose flu vaccine will be available. Registration for flu vaccine is onsite. Please bring your health insurance card for registration and Public Health will bill directly to your insurance. Free trivalent flu vaccine will be available for those who are uninsured.

All clinics will serve adults. Clinics listed with an asterisk (*) will also have flu vaccine available for children.

The Rice County Chemical and Mental Health Coalition could use your help! They are trying to reach more community members and spread awareness of the organization and the important work they’re doing in Rice County.

The 8th Annual Faribault Farmers’ Market Family Day will be held this Saturday, September 7, from 9 a.m. - noon.

This is a free and family-friendly event presented by Rice County Public Health Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) in collaboration with Faribault Farmers' Market. Take a turn in the bounce house, get up close with variety of farm animals, and take a peek at the fresh, local fruits and veggies. Local organizations will have fun interactive youth activities!

UPDATE: The Faribault Youth Empowerment Center's Family Fun Day originally scheduled for this evening has been POSTPONED to next WEDNESDAY, Aug. 21, at Jefferson Elementary School.

The event will kick off at 6:30 p.m. and features fun games, free books, storytime, car seat checks, immunization information and vaccination, and free snacks and drinks! You won't want to miss it! See you next week!

Summer EBT is a new grocery benefit that offers families with $120 in grocery benefits per eligible child during summer break. Families can use it along with benefits such as SNAP.

Openings include Arcadia Charter School, Faribault Public Schools, Northfield Public Schools, Northfield Union of Youth/the Key, and the Northfield Area Learning Center.

Promise Fellows receive a living allowance, an education award that can be used to pay for higher education or to pay existing student loans, and other benefits.
