🇺🇸 Flag Day 2026 🇺🇸
Thank you to everyone who joined American Legion Post 834 for our annual Flag Day Ceremony.
Observed each year on June 14, Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the United States flag by the Continental Congress in 1777. More than a symbol, our flag represents the freedoms we enjoy, the sacrifices made to protect them, and the enduring spirit of our nation.
As part of the ceremony, members shared the traditional Meaning of the 13 Folds of the Flag. While these interpretations are not part of the official U.S. Flag Code, they have long been used by veterans organizations, honor guards, and patriotic groups to reflect on the values of service, sacrifice, faith, family, and love of country.
The thirteen folds are traditionally associated with:
• Life
• Eternal life
• Honor and remembrance of veterans
• Our dependence upon a higher power
• Tribute to our country
• Loyalty and devotion
• The Armed Forces
• Remembrance of those who have gone before us
• Womanhood and the nurturing spirit of mothers
• Fathers and family
• Heritage and faith
• Eternity and spiritual reflection
• The legacy of our nation's founding and the patriots who secured our freedom
Flag Day reminds us that our flag tells the story of a nation built through courage, sacrifice, and unity. We are grateful to all who joined us in honoring this cherished American tradition.
