NextGen takes Chicago! 🍎🏙️

Our 2026 NextGen Fellows got to meet in person at and there’s nothing quite like being in a new city together to turn a group into a team.

From navigating the L and volunteering together to some friendly competition during a Chicago scavenger hunt, they got to know each other beyond the screen and have a little fun along the way.

At Outlook they learned about the issues and opportunities shaping the industry, connected with industry leaders from across the country, and asked some great questions along the way.

A great start to their time together, with more to come throughout this class year! 🍎

We kicked things off in Chicago! 🍎

Ahead of the official start of Outlook 26, our NextGen Fellows volunteered at Greater Chicago Food Depository and took on a scavenger hunt around the city. Then, attendees came together for our Welcome Reception… it was a great night. 🥂

August is Kids Eat Right Month, and back-to-school is a great time to settle into routines. The Dietary Guidelines encourage kids and families to focus on whole, nutrient-dense foods.

One easy habit: pack an apple, apple slices, or applesauce in lunches or backpacks each day for a nutritious and delicious staple. 🍎
