You...you earned it 🍫
I rarely cross the streams between what's done here on Report All Ghosts, and the volunteer work I put in at Ghostbusters, Virginia. However, this week I'm filled with pride for my home team, and the community as a whole.
Many of you were maybe introduced to me via the GBVA socials before I'd made the jump to indie news coverage and content creation. There I've been spending the better part of over 20 years slowly helping to build the group into what it is today, helping to lay the foundation. That said, I only fanned the flame, no one person is responsible for where we are, and ghost-busting was never meant to be a one player game.
With the combined efforts, creativity, and drive of 100+ members in GBVA, the group managed to raise over $30,000 for the Ghostbusters Give Back initiative this year, aiding in the continued efforts of the Starlight Children's Foundation. Not a task I would consider easy, and made possible only by the combined efforts of the best team a Ghostbuster could ask for.
This accomplishment, represented by a bronze Ghost Trap, is a symbol of how far we as a team and community have come, but not how far we'll go.
Every registered team across the U.S. put their boots to the ground to make this initiative a gleaming success, and I hope each and every one of you take the time to celebrate all the amazing things you've done this past year.
The Ghostbusters Day Celebration in NYC hosted by The Buffalo Ghostbusters remains a physical embodiment and sacred ground that radiates and nurtures the energy of the community, and there's nowhere else I'd rather find myself on any given first weekend of June.
A special thanks to Ghost Corps, Sony Pictures, and the Starlight Children's Foundation for continuing to lend their consideration as well as support, and fan that original flame that has since blazed into a blinding beacon of positive psychomagnatheric energy!
Busting doesn't just feel good, it means doing good. I can't wait to see what the Ghostbusters community can do together moving forward.
