THRIVE did a red ribbon thing on Wednesday!

THRIVE for Humanity was honored to celebrate a beautiful ribbon cutting on Wednesday in partnership with HealthFirst Family Care Center, Inc.

We are deeply grateful for the family, friends, donors, collaborators, community leaders, and politicians who came out to support this important moment. Your presence spoke volumes.

This was more than a ribbon cutting. It was a powerful reminder to our unsheltered neighbors that they are not forgotten, they are seen, heard, valued, and loved.

Together, we are building a place of dignity, compassion, hope, and connection for those navigating some of life’s hardest moments.

Thank you to everyone who continues to stand with us and believe in the mission of THRIVE for Humanity.

Some Saturdays remind us that community is the greatest gift of all.

Saturday, May 16 we gathered around an amazing lunch generously donated by Kim Gosson Almeida; delicious grinders, a multitude of snacks, and plenty of smiles to go around. It was a beautiful and people came together, shared fellowship, and left encouraged and uplifted. All 70 gone!
Thank you!🥰

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible and faithful volunteers who always know how to pivot at a moment’s notice and make everything come together so seamlessly. Your servant hearts never go unnoticed.🥰

And special appreciation to from SouthCoast Health, whose words always speak life, hope, and encouragement into someone who truly needs to hear it. Your compassion makes a lasting difference.🥰

Moments like these are a reminder that kindness, community, and caring for one another still shine brightly.🥰

Some people wake up with a home, a plan, and support. Others wake up wondering where they’ll shower, eat, or sleep tonight.

That’s why Thursdays at THRIVE matter.

From showers and warm breakfasts to lunch and bags filled with food and desserts, every Thursday is centered around care, dignity, and connection.
It’s also a day of collaboration, working alongside agencies, helping with wellness visits, assisting with insurance plans, and doing whatever we can to give someone another chance at life.

Every week we meet new faces. People who never imagined they would find themselves living on the streets.

Our Team THRIVE is a non-negotiable group of compassionate humans who lead with empathy, understanding, and respect. We offer a listening ear, a safe space to unwind, and support without judgment.

A special thank you to Helen for your continued donations and support.
Thank you to STAR Laundry for the generous clothing donations, and to all of our anonymous donors who continue to show up for our community.

We survive and continue serving because of your generosity.
Thank you so very much for helping us make a difference every single week.

Sackler Sentencing
“Opioid overdoses killed about 806,000 people in the US from 1999 through 2023. In 2023, about 76% of US drug overdose deaths involved opioids—averaging 217 people daily. Purdue's portion is roughly 12.8% of national opioid settlements.”

“OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma was sentenced yesterday in its long-running opioid criminal case, clearing the way for a settlement that includes a $225M forfeiture to the Justice Department and a broader deal that could reach $7B over 15 years. Purdue will also be dissolved and replaced by a new company, Knoa Pharma.

The sentencing follows years of litigation and a 2020 guilty plea in which Purdue admitted it failed to stop its painkillers from being diverted to the black market and used doctor-speaker programs to drive prescriptions. Under the settlement, the Sackler family, which owns Purdue, will pay state, local, and tribal governments, along with some individual victims, while family members who agree to the terms will be shielded from opioid lawsuits.”
