👨‍🌾🪏🌱 We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to our UnCommon Gardeners for incredible work caring for the gardens and plantings in The Commons this summer season!

🌷🪻🌻 This team of volunteers helps to beautify The Commons by planting, weeding, raking, mulching, and watering our beds. Not only do they help keep things looking great, they also build community and forge friendships as they work together.

🫶🏼Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a beginner, we welcome volunteers of all levels! Check out communityforthecommons.org/uncommon-gardeners for more information on how to get involved.

🎃👻 Have you signed up for Excelsior’s Spooky Sprint on October 10th yet?

🏃🏃🏼‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Don a costume and get active with your neighbors and friends for a 5K or 1 mile run along the shores of Minnetonka and through our charming local neighborhoods.

🔥☕️🎶🍁 After crossing the finish line, enjoy the lively after-party in The Commons, where you’ll find fire pits, s’mores, a hot cocoa bar, giveaways, music and more. This is such a wonderful way to welcome to fall season, enjoy the post-race festivities in our favorite local park, and have a hauntingly good time! 🍎🍁🍂 Since 1935, Excelsior Apple Days has been a cherished lakeside tradition celebrating the best of our community. Come to Excelsior and shores of Lake Minnetonka for a weekend filled with local artists and vendors, live music, family activities, delicious food, apple traditions, and small-town charm. It’s the first taste of fall and a wonderful opportunity to wander down from Water Street and also enjoy all that The Commons has to offer. See you at Apple Days, September 18–20!

Here’s what’s been done and what’s to come at The Commons!

Completed so far:

✅ Outdoor seating
✅ Softball field
✅ Restrooms

Starting in 2027, we begin the next phase, which will include:
🛝 Playground
🏖️ Beach house
🎾 Pickleball & tennis courts
🌊 Beach & adventure docks
🚶‍♀️ Accessible paths near the water

Even more to love is coming to The Commons! 🎉 On August 17, the Excelsior City Council approved The Commons Mini Master Plan — the next chapter for our favorite gathering place. Thank you to everyone who showed up, gave feedback, and helped shape it.

The Commons has been the scene for several concerts this summer, and what a joy it has been to see our park filled with so many people enjoying wonderful music in arguably one of the most stunning venues in the region.

Completed in 2021, the pavilion was chosen as the first Master Plan project because of its prominence, symbolic importance and community interest t. Its thoughtful design opens up spacious views of the park and Lake Minnetonka, while providing a beautiful stage for events and concerts. We are so grateful to all those who worked together to make this project possible, from our donors, to the architects, project managers, builders, and The City of Excelsior. Thank you!
