The “Tee Up For Jake!” event was a big success! The lunch was delicious, the silent auction items overflowed the place and the golf was snowy and cold...but I still heard laughing and cheers on the course! Enjoy these photos... more to come! Thanks for making the event so special!

Timeline for the benefit...
11:00: Arrive at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Andover. 701 Bunker Lake Blvd. Check in! Golfers can put their clubs in their assigned cart.
11:00-12:45: Buffet lunch and Silent auction bidding! There is so much to see, so arrive at 11:00! Use every minute of this time, it will fly fast.
12:45: Auction bids are pulled and golfers head outside for game rules, and starting holes.
1:00: Shotgun start for golf. Lunch people can relax or head out. If you won a silent auction item remember to pay for it and take it home! The room is ours all day, so talk to friends and catch up. Cash bar and cupcake bar available. Wine pull and raffle games also.
Approximately 5:00: Golfers will be heading in at the same time. Prizes will be awarded. Final silent auction bids should be completed with payment and the event comes to a close.

Cash, credit cards and checks are accepted on the auction bids.

Let’s take one last look at some of the unique donations for the silent auction. I can’t wait to see everyone in two weeks. In three days, Oct 1, final numbers go into the course and catering. You still have the weekend to register. Call me or drop a check in the mail today.

I have been losing sleep thinking about how to win that $10,000 hole in one on #17, and I think I came up with a solution! Add three more hole in one holes to work up to #17! So... #5 hole will be a breathtaking vacation for four at the Lajitas Golf Resort and Spa in Texas! Hole #8 will be a Swing Caddy SC200 monitor system. Hole #13 will be a $500 Callaway shopping spree! Wow! Now I’m ready to sleep again!

By far the easiest and hardest group to collect donations from has been the golf courses. Easy, because they almost all say “yes” and hard, because my clubs are in the car and I usually stop and play a round! Here are some of our incredible donors...Northfork, Orono, DeerRun, Bluff Creek, Columbia, Eagle Lake, Baker, The Ponds, Rush Creek, Hidden Haven, Viking Meadow, The Refuge, and Majestic Oaks and more. Come out and bid on October 14! Last day to register is October 1.

Frost, Emily’s Lebanese, Stella’s Fish Cafe, Element Pizza, Joey’s Pizza, Applebee’s, Jake’s City Grill, Malone’s Bar and Grill, Sunshine Factory, Maynard’s, The Lookout, Serums, Billy’s, Moe’s American Grill, Casa Rio Mexican, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Pizza Man, Murray’s, Fogo De Chao, Prime 6, Lago Taco, Va Bene, Coalition and Lord Fletchers. Just a few of the restaurants. How do these sound? Show up at 11:00 on October 14 to start bidding and the auction ends at 1:00. Tomorrow we talk about golf courses!

Exciting news! I have just set up credit card capabilities for those of you who do not like sending checks through the mail! So... call me and I can either take down your card information and run it through the Tee Up For Jake account or see me in person and we can process it via chip or slide. On November 11, 2017, Jake Hlebain married my daughter, Kelsey. Both Jake and Kelsey are in their mid-20s with their whole lives ahead – and excited to start that journey together with the support of many family and friends.

Despite the excitement of the marriage and the holiday season that soon followed, Jake began feeling poorly. Several trips to the doctor revealed that Jake was suffering from Hodgkin’s lymphoma, stage three with metastasis in the spleen and lung. Suddenly, the young couple were facing a battle, a battle that will test their physical, emotional, and financial strength. The chemo therapy started in April with Jake receiving infusions every other week. Of course, the side effects of the infusions include intense fatigue and emotional distress.

The treatments at the University of Minnesota Cancer Center are costly. While Jake is blessed to have a supportive employer and an essential medical insurance plan, the costs accumulate with out-of-pocket expenses in the tens of thousands of dollars. Friends and family are providing them with a golf tournament and silent auction to help with the medical costs. All the contributions here will be used to offset those uncovered costs, giving Jake and Kelsey some relief financially from this battle.

We would really appreciate any contribution that you would like to share, as well as your heightened awareness of the cost of medical care.
