We are pleased to announce that our Sister, Patricia Anderson for District 65, has been elected to Board President of District 65 School Board.

In her comments today, she said “let’s turn the light back on in the lighthouse” and we shall under her leadership!

We are proud to announce an incredible milestone for Sister Ashley SA Jackson, NCNW North Shore Section Membership Chair, who will be awarded tenure on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Oakton College.

The tenure process is one of the most rigorous achievements in higher education, requiring years of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service and Black women make up about 2% of tenured faculty.

We could not be more proud of Ashley and her achievement.

We didn’t wait to make an impact.

The very first thing we did as a newly chartered section of NCNW, we launched a service project—Community Fridge Fridays.

Thanks to Sister Kelly and Chef Nicole at Chicky's Kitchen Creations, we’re now making this a weekly program starting tomorrow. Delicious fresh meals served with dignity.

We’re excited to be part of Celebrate the National CROWN Act event on Sunday, June 29, from 1:00–5:30 PM at the Fleetwood‑Jourdain Center (1655 Foster St.) with Evanston Public Library!

Come celebrate Black hair and culture with us—and bring donations for our Healing with Dignity campaign. We’ll be collecting new hair care products for textured hair and makeup items for deeper skin tones to support women healing from domestic violence.

Donations will go directly to YWCA and WINGS.

Why this matters: Honors identity and promotes healing through culturally affirming beauty.

Supports equity and dignity for Black and Brown women.

Anchors our commitment to community care and cultural celebration.

🎁 Drop off products onsite between 1:00–5:30 PM.
📍 Fleetwood‑Jourdain Center, 1655 Foster St., Evanston.

Let’s stand together against hair discrimination and uplift beauty, dignity, and healing. ✊🏾💜
