LET’S HELP TRANSITION 📦

We have another Independent Living friend moving out on their own, and we’d love to help send them off with all they need! We’ve created this Walmart wishlist to do just that! On the list, you’ll find the items they’re in need of the most. We’d love to clear this list and make this transition as smooth and easy as possible for them.

Back to let the good times roll (literally, again).

Got to hangout with our IL friends last night, and had the BEST time. Great food, conversation, and a game of Tenzi. Would rate this a solid TENzi/TEN. 😎😎 Special thank you to one of our leaders, Dave Rodgers, for helping us provide a meal for our friends!

Last Thursday, our leaders stepped into something new. With the middle & high schoolers returning to attend school on campus at Residing Hope (as opposed to attending a local public school), our club numbers went from 4-6 in the spring to nearly 25 last week.

It was sweet to see old friends and meet new ones, but it was also chaotic for sure. We’re excited to figure out a new rhythm together this school year!

Although we do our best to make sure our Sojourners friends have an incredible camp experience, there are things we have to skip as a group since we’re only there for one day.

However…. a HUGE shoutout to Young Life's Southwind for the way they help us fit in as much as possible for this group. Fast passes to the slide and the swing?! The sweetest surprise! 🥳

This, what looks like a simple picture, speaks volumes.

Dave is one of our middle/high school leaders. He so passionate about our friends at Residing Hope that he will often leave work in Orlando, spend an hour at rec time with teens playing basketball, and then drive all the way back to work. You can tell the kids adore him by the way they react when he walks in - last week one student who hadn’t spoken more than a shrug to another leader for over an hour, got up and ran to Dave when he arrived, beaming and chatty in an instant. Where Dave goes, there’s laughter sure to follow.

And we know that this friendship, among teens in foster care and their YL leaders, paves the way for each of us to experience friendship with Jesus.

Yesterday we had the privilege of joining our friends at Residing Hope for church service, and Jason Chavara preached about how Jesus loved those around him & challenged us to do the same. Grateful for this partnership with Residing Hope 🙌

What a blast!!! Another Sojourners day at camp in the books, and man are we grateful 🥳 With so many students at the group home in and out recently, we started the day barely knowing some of the kids who came…. but by the time club rolled around, we were doing TikTok dances together 🤪

Our camp speaker finished her talk by saying “the truest thing about God is that He loves you, and the truest thing about you is that you are loved by your Designer”. We hope our friends left last night with those words echoing in their hearts 💛

In January of 2025, Sojourners leaders brought four middle school friends to weekend camp for the day (pictured). It had taken several years to get to that point, with a few hiccups along the way. Next month, we are planning to bring sixteen middle schoolers to camp for the day. Yes, you read that right - SIXTEEN.

To say our leaders are thrilled is an understatement. What a privilege it is to invite our friends to experience this with us!

These students don’t have spending cash sent with them to camp like most other teenagers. With your support we are hoping to provide each person with a tab at the camp store, treats at the snack shack during free time, and a trip t-shirt.

In order to make this happen, we need to raise $1,430. We’ve already received $1,081 - which means we’re 76% of the way there! Would you consider sponsoring a teenager in foster care so that we can ensure they have the best day possible?

Didn’t get a great chance to snap a pic, but we had so much fun hanging with our sojourners friends at the park! Summertime presents great opportunities to connect with kids in unique ways, and we’re looking forward to seeing them outside of club over the next few weeks 🙌

Last month, we met up with our IL friends at the park again! So nice, we just had to do it twice 😎 Got to share some pizza and play lots of volleyball. What! A! Blast! 🏐🍕
