The miles are adding up!

Lieutenant Bobby Rodriguez is putting in the work as he prepares for the 12-Hour River to Sea Trail Race in support of Child Cancer Awareness. This week alone, Bobby logged over 71 miles of training as he continues his journey toward race day.

Time to Meet Our Athletes!

Behind every mile is a reason to keep going.

Meet Lieutenant Bobby Rodriguez and Firefighter Micah, two dedicated members of the Deltona Firefighters family who have accepted the challenge of running to raise awareness and support for children battling cancer.

Over the next two months, they will be training, fundraising, and preparing for the River to Sea Trail Race, all with one goal in mind: making a difference in the lives of local children and families facing some of life's toughest challenges.

While a little friendly competition exists between Team Bobby and Team Micah, the real winners are the children and families this campaign will support.

What a great start to this campaign!

Over the next two months, we will be rallying behind two incredible members of our Deltona Firefighters family as they lace up their shoes and take on this challenge to support children and families affected by cancer.

Bobby and Micah are not running for themselves—they are running for a cause bigger than all of us. Every mile completed and every dollar raised helps bring awareness, hope, and support to children battling cancer and the families standing beside them.

We invite our community to follow their journey, cheer them on, share their campaign, and help us make an even bigger impact together.

The race may be on August 1st, but the mission starts now.

Firefighters Running for Child Cancer Awareness

At the Deltona Firefighters Foundation, we are proud to support two dedicated members of our Deltona fire family as they take on an incredible challenge for an even greater cause.

Bobby and Micah have committed to competing in the River to Sea 12/6 Hour Trail Race on August 1, 2026. Known for their dedication to health, fitness, and service, they have spent countless hours training and preparing for this grueling endurance race.

But they’re not running just for themselves—they’re running to make a difference.

Their goal is to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer awareness, with all proceeds benefiting a local organization that supports children and families impacted by cancer.

We invite you to support their journey by:
• Making a direct donation toward their fundraising goal.
• Pledging $5 per mile completed during the race.
• Joining Team Bobby or Team Micah and cheering them on as they race toward their individual fundraising goals of $1,000 each.

As always, firefighters never shy away from a little friendly competition. Follow along to see which of these dedicated firefighters reaches their fundraising goal first. While there may be some brotherly rivalry along the way, the mission remains the same: raising funds to support local children and families affected by cancer.

All donations are collected through Zeffy, allowing 100% of the funds raised to go directly toward this important cause.

The Deltona Firefighters Foundation is proud to participate in this impactful event focused on empowering the next generation of our community.

The Life Skills Boot Camp provides young adults with valuable knowledge, practical skills, and real-world guidance to help them prepare for their future. We are honored to be part of the program and look forward to sharing information about the Fire/EMS profession, public service, and the opportunities available within our field.
