Congratulations to Mallika Sen, Solana Center's Director of Programs, for receiving the CRRA California Environmental Changemaker Award. This recognizes Mallika's proactive work to improve environmental sustainability in and beyond California through Zero Waste strategies, including product stewardship, waste prevention, reuse, recycling, and composting. She is an irresistible force when she wants to make change. We are proud that California knows her power too!

Another conference highlight: Leia Berube, Solana Center's Manager of Environmental Solutions, moderated From Policy to Plate: Turning SB1383 into Real-World Food Recovery Systems. Leia brought together a jurisdiction-led case study and cross-sector perspectives to demonstrate how policy is translated into real-world results.

Congratulations to our staff member Jack Mittemeyer on being selected as a judge for the 2026 San Diego Environmental Film Festival. This marks his second year as a judge and involves watching 14 hrs of films for consideration.

"I have been involved with this event for four years. With my educational background in environmental storytelling and filmmaking, I enjoy being able to both watch and share these incredible films with my community."
