The University community honors and remembers former Head Football Coach Curtis “Curt” Newsome Jr. ’82.

“Coach Newsome was a well-respected leader and mentor whose lasting impact on the University and generations of student-athletes will always be cherished and remembered,” said Emory & Henry University President Lou Fincher.

Coach Newsome passed away on May 31, 2026 in Abingdon, Va.

Congratulations to our HEALS seniors on starting their next chapter! 🎓

Emory & Henry recently honored our first graduating HEALS class with a Senior Celebration recognizing their achievements and next steps to further their education.

Thank you to Del. Israel O'Quinn and Sen. Todd Pillion for joining us during this special celebration.

SWVA-HEALS is a high school career academy for 10th-12th graders interested in pursuing careers in healthcare.
