ROADWAY UPDATE

The 5300 block of Lake Wilson Road has reopened and is now open to normal traffic.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while crews worked to safely clear the roadway. We appreciate the assistance of all responding agencies and utility personnel.

Please continue to drive safely and remain alert for emergency personnel working throughout the area.

🚨 Road Closure Alert 🚨

The 5300 block of Lake Wilson Road is currently closed due to power lines down across the roadway.

Please avoid the area and use an alternate route while emergency crews and the utility company work to safely clear the scene.

For your safety, do not drive around barricades or approach downed power lines. Even if they appear inactive, they should always be treated as energized.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation. Updates will be provided as they become available.

🌦️ Weather Alert for the Elm City Community

It’s going to be another hot and humid day across our area, with temperatures climbing into the mid-90s. As the afternoon and evening progress, there’s a chance for strong thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, gusty winds, and localized flooding. (AccuWeather)

🚒 Toisnot Fire & Rescue encourages everyone to:
• Stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
• Never drive through flooded roadways—Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
• Move indoors immediately if thunder is heard.
• Secure loose outdoor furniture and equipment before storms arrive.
• Keep a way to receive weather alerts throughout the day.

Our crews are ready to respond if needed. Please stay weather-aware and help keep yourself, your family, and your neighbors safe.

🚨 Smoke Alarm Saturday Success! 🚨

Today, members of Toisnot Fire & Rescue, along with our dedicated Auxiliary members, participated in Smoke Alarm Saturday to help improve fire safety throughout our community.

Throughout the day, our teams visited nearly 30 residences and installed approximately 25 smoke alarms, ensuring more families have the early warning protection that saves lives.

We would like to thank everyone who welcomed us into their homes and allowed us the opportunity to provide this important service.

If we were unable to reach you today or if you were unavailable during our visits, don’t worry! We will continue providing smoke alarm installations throughout the week, concluding on June 12th.

If you would like to schedule a smoke alarm installation, please send us a message through our page, and we will be happy to assist you.

Remember: Working smoke alarms save lives. Test them monthly, replace batteries as needed, and replace smoke alarms according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

🚨 SMOKE ALARM SATURDAY 🚨

Starting Saturday, June 6th, Toisnot Fire & Rescue will be out in our community helping keep families safe! Thanks to a grant from the North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshal, we are providing FREE smoke alarm checks, battery replacements, alarm installations, and fire prevention education.

If your home does not have adequate smoke alarm protection, we are here to help at no cost to you.

🚒 Truck of the Month 🚨

Engine 77
1998 International “Pierce”
• 1250 GPM Waterous Pump
• 1000 Gallon Water Tank

Engine 77 serves as a pumper/tanker and currently operates as a reserve engine, while also being utilized as a tanker when needed. Despite its age, Engine 77 continues to play an important role in supporting the department’s operations and response capabilities.

Equipped with essential tools and equipment, Engine 77 is capable of handling a wide range of emergency incidents. As the oldest apparatus in the Toisnot Fire & Rescue fleet, this truck has faithfully served our department and community for many years.

Around this time next year, Engine 77 is expected to retire from service as its replacement apparatus arrives. While change is necessary to meet the growing needs of both the department and the community, Engine 77 will always remain an important part of Toisnot Fire & Rescue history.

Tuesday night training was one for the books. Our members spent the evening sharpening critical fireground skills including hose deployment, hose advancement, forcible entry, and victim search techniques.

The members worked extremely hard, pushed themselves physically and mentally, and gained valuable knowledge and experience that will better prepare us to serve our community when it matters most.

We are proud of the dedication and commitment shown by every member involved. Training like this builds stronger firefighters and a stronger department. 🚒
