This is the monument to Battery M, 2nd U.S. Artillery along the Hanover Road and out on Gettysburg National Military Park’s less visited East Cavalry Field. With six 3-inch rifles, this unit engaged with Southern forces at Hunterstown on July 2, 1863 and then engaged with J.E.B. Stuart's cavaliers here east of town on July 3 with Custer's Brigade of Michigan troopers.

“Fight For The Colors” Is Don Troiani’s first Gettysburg painting done over 30 years ago.

FIGHT FOR THE COLORS

“My first Gettysburg painting. Corporal Waller of the Iron Brigade grapples for the colors of the 2nd Mississippi Regiment at the railroad cut , July 1, 1863 Gettysburg. This was an early picture for me (30 years ago) , the models were all posed in the parking lot of my high rise in Stamford , Ct . I would dress them in the apartment then ferry them up and down in the elevator dressed and armed. The late renowned sculptor Ron Tunison posed for one of the Confederates and noted Marine painter Christopher Blossom the wounded Union officer in the left corner. This is a low resolution image without watermarks.”

BEFORE this bust of the legendary General JEB Stuart was removed in the Virginia State Capitol building in Richmond, Virginia without notice by the left Mao-Marxists. It remains in storage to this day. We'll never forget! (Jan 4, 2020, RJ).

This removal was an act of cultural iconoclastic revisionism driven by leftist ideologies intent on erasing Southern heritage. This is just one of many busts in the Virginia Capitol building removed by leftists in 2020 along with Joseph E Johnson, Stonewall Jackson, Matthew Fontaine Maury, Fitzhugh Lee, Alexander Stephens, Jefferson Davis, Robert E Lee’s statue, etc

Stuart was an extraordinary figure: a dashing, charismatic cavalry genius born in Virginia in 1833, West Point graduate, and master of reconnaissance who earned fame for bold raids, including his famous 1862 ride around the entire Union army during the Peninsula Campaign. Known as the embodiment of the Virginia Cavalier—chivalrous, fearless, abstinent from vice, and devoted to his state—he served as the "eyes and ears" of Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia, providing critical intelligence and screening movements with unmatched skill until his mortal wounding at Yellow Tavern in 1864 at age 31.

An honorable man of action and deep loyalty, Stuart's legacy as one of the “Civil” War's most brilliant and gallant officers endures, making this bust’s removal from public view all the more infuriating to any respectable, decent person, especially those who honor his contributions to Virginia's history.
