Mountaineer Chapter TU will be running a continuous Fly Tying Session and demonstration at the Appalachian Flyfishing Festival in Thomas WV this weekend Saturday May 30 through Sunday May 31, 2026. You are welcome to bring your Tying Kit and join us. It starts at 10:00am both days. Come to the Seminar Tent and look for our banner and tables. There are lots of great Flyfishing and Flytying vendors and Food Trailers. Fun!!!

Fly Tying Session this Thursday May 14, 2026 at 6:00pm at Big Timber Brewing in Elkins. Come out and join us for a fun evening! The big hatches of Sulphurs and Green Drakes are coming soon. Lots of other hatches happen in May and June. Lets tie up plenty of flies so we don’t run short.

Meeting - Thursday April 23, 2026 at 6:00pm Big Timber Brewing in Elkins. Our speaker will be Joey Vincent from Cast out Cancer.
Bring your Fly Tying Kit and we will tie some flies afterward. Come out and enjoy a great evening!

Fly Tying Session Thursday March 26, 2026 - 6:00pm at Big Timber Brewing in Elkins. Gene will be back and demonstrate the March Brown Soft Hackle. Come out and have a great time! Everyone is welcome!!! We will teach you to tie if you are new to it.

By popular demand we will be continuing the 2nd and 4th of the month Fly Tying Sessions. It will be a good opportunity to tie up flies, for gaps in your flybox, you need during fishing in the months ahead.

Fly Tying Session this Thursday March 12, 2026 at 6:00pm Big Timber Brewing in Elkins.
Since it is March - Gene Thorn will demonstrate how to tie a March Brown Soft Hackle Wet Fly.
Bring your tying gear and materials and join us or just sit in and learn. Spring has sprung come out for a good time. 😀

A good time was had by all last night at our Mountaineer Chapter TU Flytying Session. Thanks to John for teaching Pat’s Rubber Legs! Thanks to Big Timber Brewing in Elkins for hosting us.
Come on out and join us next month. The 2nd and 4th Thursday evenings.

Fly Tying Session this Thursday February 26, 2026 at 6:00pm Big Timber Brewing in Elkins.
John Schmidt will be demonstrating how to tie a Pat’s Rubber Legs. It is a stonefly imitation and is absolutely killer!
Come on out and enjoy a good evening of fellowship and fun. If you don’t tie flies but want to learn, here is your opportunity.
If you have cabin fever and are stir crazy from all the snow, join us and bring some fishing tales to share.

Christmas Get Together and Flytying Session this Thursday December 11, 2025 at Big Timber Brewing in Elkins starting at 6:00pm. We are going to have food! Bring any kind of finger foods or pizza if possible and we will put them out for everyone to enjoy. It will be a fun evening. Stop by and join us!
