🥫💚 Today is National Food Bank Day! 💚🥫

On the first Friday in September, communities across the country recognize the important work of food banks — and the incredible people who make that work possible.

Here at the Elk Grove Food Bank, we see the very best of our community every day. Our volunteers give their time and energy. Donors fill our shelves and help fund our programs. Local businesses, schools, service clubs, churches and community partners step up again and again. And together, we make sure our neighbors facing food insecurity have somewhere to turn.

Today, on National Food Bank Day, we simply want to say THANK YOU. ❤️

Whether you donate food, make a financial gift, volunteer your time, organize a food drive, or help spread the word — you are part of this mission.

📢 Reminder: Monthly Senior Box/CSFP Day

Elk Grove Food Bank will be closed today, September 3, to the general public from 9 am to 12:30 pm.

It's the 1st Thursday of the month, which is Monthly Senior Box Day! This day is set aside for seniors enrolled in our Senior Box/CSFP program.

We will be open for normal distribution for all clients from 12:30 to 2 pm, and then back to regular hours tomorrow, Friday, September 4.

Thank you for your understanding and support! 💙

(Please note: Starting October 1, Senior Boxes will be distributed on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month. )

🥜🍓 A HUGE THANK YOU TO SAMUEL KENNEDY ELEMENTARY! 🍓🥜

We are so grateful to the incredible Student Leadership Team at Samuel Kennedy Elementary School for stepping up to help our neighbors in need!

When Principal Sandra Brown heard that the Elk Grove Food Bank was in need of peanut butter and jelly, her students sprang into action. With the support of Student Leadership Coordinator Jen Wanlin, they organized a peanut butter and jelly drive during August — and collected approximately 300 jars! 🎉

What an amazing example of young people making a BIG difference in their community. Every jar collected will help us stock our shelves and provide a family with something simple, nutritious, and much needed.

To the students, Ms. Brown, Ms. Wanlin, and everyone who contributed: THANK YOU! Your kindness, generosity, and community spirit mean more than you know. 💛 🥜🍓❤️

And a special shoutout to our EGFBS Volunteer Extraordinaire, Carlos Zamarripa, who made sure all 300 jars found their way to our Food Bank shelves!
