The Elk Grove Food Bank was honored to welcome Congresswoman Doris Matsui back to our campus today as she continues her longstanding support and advocacy for local families facing food insecurity throughout the Sacramento region.
Congresswoman Matsui has been a dedicated supporter of the Elk Grove Food Bank and our mission to serve vulnerable individuals, seniors, children, and families throughout the community. Her continued engagement highlights the critical importance of addressing hunger and supporting organizations working on the front lines to meet growing community needs.
Joining Congresswoman Matsui during the visit were (left to right): Elk Grove Food Bank Board Members Larry Sahota, Dr. Suman Singha, Melissa Ibrahim, and Betty Hall; Executive Director Marie Jachino; Jesus Tarango, Jr., Chairman of the Wilton Rancheria; Wilton Rancheria Board Member Annette Williams; Elk Grove Vice Mayor Darren Suen; Elk Grove Councilmember Rod Brewer; and Wilton Rancheria Board Members Leia Ahuactzin and Spencer Hosson.
During the visit, community leaders saw firsthand the increasing demand for food assistance and essential support services across the region.
The visit also provided an opportunity for our Executive Director to personally thank the leadership of Wilton Rancheria for their generous support through the Wilton Rancheria Charity Golf Tournament held earlier this month. Their ongoing partnership and commitment to the community continue to make a meaningful impact on the families and individuals we serve each day.
We are deeply grateful for Congresswoman Matsui’s continued advocacy, as well as the collaboration and partnership of local elected officials and tribal leaders who remain committed to strengthening the community safety net and ensuring no one in our community faces hunger alone.
