On Saturday, Elizabeth Parent Support Group had the opportunity to participate in the First Annual Down Syndrome Walk, an initiative born from the heart and dedication of a mother who, just like many of our families, has been personally impacted by a cause that touches her life.

Takiyah Abdur-Rahman recognized that her story is not hers alone—that what impacts one family may also be impacting many others throughout our community. And when we come together, we can create greater awareness, provide more support, and make sure that no family has to walk alone.

Just as many of us came together years ago around the cause of autism, today we are taking another step forward to support a different cause and remind everyone that there are many realities that deserve to be heard, recognized, and supported.

It was a beautiful day filled with love, inclusion, and community. 💙💛💙💛

Congratulations on this first annual walk and for having the vision and heart to start this movement. We are ready to continue supporting this cause and so many others that impact the families of our beloved Elizabeth community.

Together, we can do more. Together, we can build a community where everyone has a place, a voice, and the support they need.
