Good afternoon,

Let's get an early start on wreath donations for the Wreaths Across America Ceremony at Lake View Cemetery. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2026 at 12N. Please consider donating wreaths to this worthy cause. American Legion Post 223 has identified 1,289 veterans graves that will each need a wreath. Make sure you use the code MDLKVC so that these wreaths will be used at Lake View Cemetery.

Thank you,

Mark Frantzen
Department Executive Committee Member

On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the Post 223 General Membership meeting was highlighted with the instillation of officers for the upcoming 2026-2027 Legion year. Please welcome Commander Pat Cusack, First Vice Commander David Burkhouse and Judge Advocate Don Adams. The remaining officers stayed the same and our outgoing Commander Themis Smyrnioudis will have a one year trustee position. The officer oath was conducted by District 8 First Vice Commander Richard Stem. Many thanks for Commander Stem on conducting the installation of officers ceremony and oath.

Many thanks to Themis for his leadership and guidance over the last two years as Post Commander. Job well done!!!

Today, we celebrate the birthday of the United States Army and honor the soldiers who have defended our nation since 1775.

From the Revolutionary War to today's missions around the globe, generations of Army soldiers have answered the call with an unwavering commitment to duty.

To all who have worn the Army uniform: thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Happy 251st Birthday, Army!
