The Downtown Sykesville Connection (DSC) is a 501c3 non-profit and a State and Nationally accredited Main Street Program. The DSC operates as per the Main Street four-point approach - a time-tested framework for community-driven, and comprehensive revitalization - to improve the quality of life downtown Sykesville for all. The DSC administers and funds the downtown public art exhibits, community programs, community gardens, Main street sound system, the Parklet, Main Street events, and more.

Historic Sykesville is proud of its Old Towne America flavor. We have taken great strides to maintain that charm and hospitality. Come visit for the day and enjoy all that Sykesville has to offer the whole family. Shopping, Restaurants, Boutiques, Events, Model Trains, Little Sykes Railway Train Ride for Kids, Museum, Historic Colored Schoolhouse and more! The historic Town of Sykesville overlooks the Patapsco River and is located on the B&O Railway bordering both Howard and Carroll Counties. Tour our historic Main Street, take a stroll overlooking the Patapsco River and if you're lucky, a train may cross your path. Don't let our small size fool you. Sykesville has something for everyone!

We are on the National Register of Historic Places and voted the best Town in Maryland and 10th best in the country for raising a family by Bloomberg Businessweek, November 2011. We received the title of Coolest Small Town in America by Budget Travel in 2016 and the title of Best Main Street in America by Independent We Stand in 2020. We were recognized as one of the 8 best-performing Main Street programs in the Country as a semifinalist in the Great American Main Street Award competition. ✨ Introducing a beautiful new way to bring Main Street Sykesville home. ✨

Share the beauty of Main Street, one handwritten note at a time.

We're excited to introduce our limited-edition boxed set of 10 blank notecards, featuring 10 different scenes of historic Main Street Sykesville painted by local artist Tom Cantwell.

If you've spent time downtown, you've probably seen Tom at work from the patio at The Vine on Main, capturing the beauty, architecture, and everyday moments that make Sykesville so special. Now, you can share those moments with family and friends through this exclusive collection.

This keepsake is one of several commemorative projects created by the Downtown Sykesville Connection to celebrate Sykesville being named the 2026 Great American Main Street Award® winner. Every card tells the story of the place we proudly call home and the vibrant community that earned national recognition.

This project is truly local from start to finish:
