The Downtown Sykesville Connection (DSC) is a 501c3 non-profit and a State and Nationally accredited Main Street Program. The DSC operates as per the Main Street four-point approach - a time-tested framework for community-driven, and comprehensive revitalization - to improve the quality of life downtown Sykesville for all. The DSC administers and funds the downtown public art exhibits, community

programs, community gardens, Main street sound system, the Parklet, Main Street events, and more.

Historic Sykesville is proud of its Old Towne America flavor. We have taken great strides to maintain that charm and hospitality. Come visit for the day and enjoy all that Sykesville has to offer the whole family. Shopping, Restaurants, Boutiques, Events, Model Trains, Little Sykes Railway Train Ride for Kids, Museum, Historic Colored Schoolhouse and more! The historic Town of Sykesville overlooks the Patapsco River and is located on the B&O Railway bordering both Howard and Carroll Counties. Tour our historic Main Street, take a stroll overlooking the Patapsco River and if you're lucky, a train may cross your path. Don't let our small size fool you. Sykesville has something for everyone!

We received the title of Coolest Small Town in America by Budget Travel in 2016 and the title of Best Main Street in America by Independent We Stand in 2020. We were recognized as one of the 8 best-performing Main Street programs in the Country as a semifinalist in the Great American Main Street Award competition. Meet Clare Hoerl, whose beautiful miniature watercolor prints are as charming as they are unique. Each tiny piece is carefully framed and features everything from coastal favorites and wildlife to local landmarks.
One of our favorite parts? Clare has started a Sykesville Series, capturing some of the buildings and places we all know and love in her signature watercolor style. They’re the perfect little keepsake, gift, or conversation piece.

Change is always bittersweet. While we are sad to see our current Executive Director move on, we are also excited to welcome new leadership and begin the next chapter for the Downtown Sykesville Connection.

Over the years, we have built a strong foundation for our Main Street program - one rooted in community, creativity, partnerships, resilience, and a deep love for Downtown Sykesville. Our next team member will have the opportunity to build upon that foundation while bringing their own ideas, energy, and perspective to the work.

Strong Main Street programs are meant to evolve, and we are excited to see what comes next for DSC and Downtown Sykesville. 💜

Our Downtown Sykesville Farmers Market is filled with local growers, makers, artists, bakers, and all kinds of treasures waiting to be discovered. From beautiful handmade artwork and uniquely Sykesville creations to fresh finds you’ll want to bring home, there’s a reason Sundays downtown get busy!

🚗 Here’s the good news: parking is FREE throughout Downtown Sykesville.

If the closest spaces are full, don’t turn around! We have multiple free public parking lots within just a 1–3 minute walk of Main Street. Park, enjoy the short stroll, and make a day of it.

And while you’re here, grab a coffee, visit the market, explore the shops, have lunch, and enjoy everything our downtown has to offer. That little walk might lead you to your new favorite place. 💚
