Excuses I have heard this week: 😢😠

“We are downsizing and wish we could keep her.”

“We want to travel and it’s becoming too expensive, so we want to rehome.”

“My boyfriend is allergic.” (This is about a horse that lives in a barn on a separate property)

This is real life. I cannot make this stuff up. There are valid reasons (very few) for someone to have to rehome an animal. Not one of these excuses is valid. Please think long and hard before you acquire a pet of any kind. Shelters, rescues, and sanctuaries are full, and most nonprofits are struggling to remain operational in this economy. Do your research. Adopt, don’t shop. Donate when you can, even a dollar makes a difference. And please prioritize your pets; they probably love you more than most humans ever will. ❤️‍🩹

BREAKING: Today, the US House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee advanced language that would bar the transportation of horses for slaughter for human consumption in the US and abroad.

Each year, more than 20,000 American horses are trucked to slaughterhouses in Canada and Mexico, where they are brutally butchered for their meat using ineffective stunning methods that can leave them conscious during dismemberment.

The bipartisan amendment to the Committee’s five-year surface transportation reauthorization bill, led by Congressman Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) and Congresswoman Dina Titus (D-NV), would close the legal loophole that permits this practice, achieving the same policy goal as the Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act.

AWI joins the ASPCA, Return To Freedom, Wild Horse Conservation, The Wild Beauty Foundation, and advocates throughout the country in urging Congress to bring this widely supported measure across the finish line.

Isn't it funny how some of us went from dreaming of becoming professionals with fancy degrees, but now all we want to do is stay at home, live in the middle of nowhere and start an animal sanctuary?

I can not stress this enough 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 Bunnies, chicks, ducklings, any living breathing animal is a physical and financial commitment and shouldn’t be considered lightly or given as a gift 🙅🏼‍♀️🚫. The shelters are FULL with small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, birds) If you are seriously committed to getting an animal always do your research first and adopt DON’T shop!

This is so heartbreaking 💔😢 please share and let’s try and find these littles permanent homes

Who wouldn't want a miniature horse?☺️

🐴The popular attraction in Gettysburg, known for its miniature horses, has closed as the owners retire. An auction is scheduled for February 28 to find new homes for 30 miniature horses and other farm animals. The auction has attracted national interest, with several bids already placed.
