Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization with more than 1.42 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 210 countries and geographical areas around the world. Since 1917, Lions clubs have aided the blind and visually impaired and made a strong commitment to community service throughout the world. The Edison Visionary Lions Club (EVLC) is an organiz

ation of young and dynamic professionals who are passionate about hands-on community service. We were chartered in May 2010 and have been recognized for our service to the community. We are committed to being “Loving Individuals Offering Needed Service” with our motto “Vision Beyond Sight”. The Edison Visionary Lions Club has 50 members and meets on 1st Saturday of the month at Minnie B. We are a modern club and we use latest communication technologies to keep us nimble. Since inception the club has undertaken several humanitarian projects serving our local community as well as needy around the world. Most notable project of Edison Visionary Lions Club are:

Social for Individuals with special needs (4 times a year)
Disaster relief during Super-storm Sandy
Holiday meals for homeless
Toy drive for homeless children
Serving children affected by apartment fire
Eye surgery mission in Indian tribal area
Eye camps in Paraguay
Vision Screening for under-privileged
Mentoring youth
Serving Veterans
Cultural outreach
Independence day fireworks
Protecting the environment
Backpacks for underprivileged
Children’s Mental Health Symposium
Edison Visionary Lions Club has active youth programs with more than 120 members learning to be effective leaders while volunteering for charitable causes. Our club and the members have been recognized for our service. We have received numerous prestigious Lions Clubs International awards. Edison Chamber of Commerce recognized club founder, Lion Mahesh Chitnis with “Citizen of the Year” award in 2014. He also received Julian Bond Community Award (NAACP) for improving race relations. Global Service Week - Hunger Relief
January 13th, 2026

Today was a powerful reminder of what service truly means. Lions came together to serve meals to homeless and needy individuals in our community, offering not just food but warmth, dignity, and human connection. Seeing volunteers work side by side, sharing smiles and conversations with those we served, made this effort especially meaningful.

Acts like these go beyond a single meal. They reflect our commitment to caring for those facing difficult circumstances and to standing with our most vulnerable neighbors. Grateful to every Lion and volunteer who gave their time, energy, and heart to make this service project impactful. Together, we continue to serve with compassion and purpose. Thank you, NJ-Multicultural Lions Club and Plainsboro Township Lions Club for joining this initiative.

Thanksgiving Meal Service in Perth Amboy 🦃🍂

This Thanksgiving, over 30 dedicated volunteers joined hands for a heartwarming day of service in Perth Amboy. Since 2011, the Edison Visionary Lions Club has proudly partnered with Perth Amboy Township, the Mayor’s Office, and Abundant Life Worship Center to support the homeless and those in need. We were joined by Bayonne Lions, Edison Metro Lions, Elizabeth Cubano Lions, NJ Multicultural Lions, Old Bridge Visionary Lions, and Plainsboro Township Lions this year. We served over 4,000 meals to individuals and families facing hardships.

Our volunteers served meals, cleaned, assisted in the kitchen, distributed hygiene kits, performed vision screening, and contributed to grocery donations, all with the spirit of giving and love. We are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of so many. Here’s to building a stronger, more compassionate community—one act of service at a time. 💛
