Twin Cities Youth Rowing Club

Twin Cities Youth Rowing Club The mission of Twin Cities Youth Rowing Club is to build teamwork, responsibility and excellence in youth through the sport of rowing.

Twin Cities Youth Rowing Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the sport of rowing within the youth community in the Twin Cities metro area. TCYR is a member of:
-USRowing (national governing organization)
-Midwest Junior Rowing Association (regional championship conference)

TCYR offers a rewarding experience for rowers of all abilities, including a very competitive v

arsity and a novice program. The team offers the opportunity to sweep row, the prominent discipline of American scholastic rowing, at both the high school and collegiate levels. Varsity rowers compete against other top club programs from all over the Midwestern United States in 2,000 meter races in the spring and summer seasons. In the fall, rowers compete in several longer head races throughout the Midwest (Milwaukee River Challenge, Head of the Mississippi, and Head of the Rock,) before going on to the premiere head race in the world – The Head of the Charles. The Novice Team is made up of athletes with no prior rowing experience. Novices are taught sweep rowing and compete against similarly experienced rowers from other clubs in the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Since our team inception in 2008, our Men’s and Women’s Varsity and Novice teams have won numerous medals at regattas all over the Midwest region, including the largest fall regatta in the Midwest: the Head of the Rock. Our alumni are rowing at premiere colleges all across the country, from the club level all the way up to Division 1. On the national scene, the team has made great strides in the last two years. We received our first entries into the prestigious Head of the Charles regatta in 2011, where both of our men’s and women’s fours requalified for the following year by placing 35th and 11th, respectively. The women’s four followed up in 2012 by placing 5th, earning them a medal and another bid for 2013. In June of 2012, three of our rowers were named to the Junior National Team and attended the Women’s High Performance Camp in New London, Connecticut, where they trained and raced with some of the top junior rowers from around the country.

Throwing it back to 2017 NWIRAs! 🚣‍♀️🚣‍♂️

A lot has changed since this crew hit the water, but the memories, teammates, and lessons from those days stick with you.

TCYRC alumni — who remembers this weekend? Drop a comment with your favorite NWIRAs memory, tag a teammate you raced with, or let us know where rowing has taken you since your TCYRC days!

Two weeks until our fall season starts.

TCYRC boats have given us countless miles, races, and memories. Now, they need a little love. Our fleet is showing its age and several boats need maintenance and repairs to keep our rowers safely on the water.

Want to help keep the fleet afloat? 💙🧡

Reach out to our Head Coach Cory, to learn how you can contribute.

Our boats have carried our athletes. Now, let’s carry the boats.

Fall racing is officially on the calendar. 🚣‍♂️🍂

This season, TCY will race at three different fall regatta weekends across the country:

📍 October 16–18 — Head of the Charles Regatta | Boston, MA
📍 October 24–25 — Blake Haxton & Speakmon Regattas | Columbus, OH
📍 November 7–8 — Head of the H***h Regatta | Chattanooga, TN

From the Charles River to Griggs Reservoir to Chattanooga, each stop gives our athletes a different opportunity to compete, learn, and represent TCY.

The work starts now. Every practice, every stroke, and every teammate plays a part in preparing us to race our best when we arrive at the starting line.

Fall 2026. Let’s go, TCY.

A little preseason sneak peek from inside the TCYRC Indoor Boathouse. 👀💪🚣

Right now, our athletes are putting in the work through our Advanced Camps, with a focus on becoming better movers, building strength, and learning how that strength translates directly to the erg and the rowing stroke.

Before we worry about speed, we build the foundation: better movement, better positions, better force production, and a better understanding of how the body creates boat speed.

The season may not have officially started yet, but the work already has.

Move well. Get strong. Row fast.
