Safeguarding Youth Training Update (June 4, 1:00 PM ET)

Scouting America has provided additional guidance regarding Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT). Volunteers are encouraged to follow these steps to ensure their training status is updated correctly:

βœ… Always Start from My.Scouting
β€’ Log into My.Scouting and use the "Start" or "Retake Course" button
β€’ Do not search for the course manually
β€’ This ensures you are directed to the correct version of the training

βœ… Verify Your Training Status First Before Retaking Training:
β€’ Check your training status and expiration date in My Training
β€’ Confirm whether your SYT is already current

βœ… Take the Correct Course
β€’ If your SYT is expired beyond the allowed window or has never been completed, take the full 90-minute course
β€’ If you are eligible and current, complete the refresher course
β€’ Taking the wrong course may not update your certification status

βœ… Watch for Navigation Prompts
β€’ Scroll within the course window and ensure all content is viewed before proceeding
β€’ Progress buttons may not be immediately visible on all screen sizes

βœ… If the Course Freezes or Will Not Advance
β€’ Exit the course and relaunch it from My.Scouting
β€’ If the issue continues, report it through your council so it can be escalated to IT

βœ… If You Receive an Expiration Notice
β€’ First verify your status in My.Scouting
β€’ Some expiration notices were sent in error and are currently being addressed
β€’ If your training is current, there may be no action required

Scouting America is actively working with IT and Learning Management System partners to:
β€’ Correct email notification logic to improve accuracy
β€’ Improve course routing between the full SYT and refresher courses
β€’ Address user interface issues affecting course navigation and completion
β€’ Continue monitoring system performance following recent infrastructure updates

Please check My.Scouting for the most current information regarding your training status before retaking any courses.

🎣 Thank You, Colchester Fish & Game Club! ⚜️

The Connecticut Rivers Council, Scouting America is proud to recognize the Colchester Fish & Game Club for joining our Hooked on Scouting Membership Campaign as a First Cast Sponsor!

Their support helps us introduce more young people to the outdoors through fishing, conservation education, camping, and hands-on outdoor adventures. Through Hooked on Scouting, every new Cub Scout will have the opportunity to receive a fishing pole and discover the lifelong lessons that come from spending time outdoors.

Organizations like Colchester Fish & Game Club understand that today's youth need opportunities to connect with nature, learn stewardship of our natural resources, and develop the confidence that comes from outdoor experiences.

Thank you for helping us ensure that more youth can experience the adventure, friendship, and life-changing opportunities that Scouting provides.

Please join us in thanking the Colchester Fish & Game Club for investing in the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts and conservation-minded citizens!
