Wednesday was Patrol Adventure Day! Can you think of a better way to wake up other than by the sound of bagpipes? This is one of our favorite traditions here, and it was a great way to kick off a fun day of Patrol adventures throughout base camp!

The participants enjoyed a day of base camp activities as patrols, putting into practice their communication and problem-solving skills and monitoring their stage of Team Development!

Day 3 (Tuesday), Part 3: The scouts had a fun Lego activity that dealt with challenging communication situations, and then learned about the steps dealing with leadership in an emergency: They saw a scenario acted out by the staff, and then got to create their own fake injures and then practice leadership in a staged “emergency situation”.

Day 3 (Tuesday, Part 2). The scouts learned about problem solving, and then played some games that required them to work together to successfully complete those challenges!

Day 3 (Tuesday), Part 1: Day 3 included activities based on teamwork as well as a troop meeting. Troop guides modeled the EDGE method for teaching lashings. “E”, “D” and “G”were in ‘patrol corners’ and then they had the opportunity to try “E” during inter patrol activities of building a tripod and then building an A-frame to transport an “injured” person.

NYLT Day 2: Pioneering projects! The scouts learned about planning and what it takes to turn a vision into a reality. Their newfound skills were put into action as patrols designed and created a pioneering project!

Part 1 of Day 2 at NYLT: the day was spent learning more about communication, planning and everyone got to participate in a model youth-led troop meeting.
