What does accessibility at Carters Lake mean for our community?

Last week, the Gilmer Chamber joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Carters Lake, FIND Outdoors, and Friends of Our Beautiful Carters Lake Inc. to celebrate the installation of a new wheelchair access mat at Harris Branch Beach Recreation Area!

In this video, you'll hear directly from the partners who helped make this project possible and learn more about the impact this improvement will have for residents and visitors alike!

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to ensuring more people can experience and enjoy the natural beauty of Carters Lake.

Join us on Saturday, July 4, 2026, for one of Gilmer County's favorite traditions - the Independence Day Parade!

This year's parade theme is "America Through the Decades," celebrating the people, moments, music, and memories that have shaped our nation over the past 250 years. Spend your Fourth of July along the streets of Downtown Ellijay & enjoy a festive day filled with patriotic spirit, creative floats, community pride, and plenty of red, white, and blue. 🎆

Want to be part of the parade? Businesses, organizations, clubs, churches, schools, and community groups are invited to participate!
