We are continuing our Home Owner Orientation meetings in Gilmer County on Thursday September 19th and Saturday September 21st to find our next homeowner for Gilmer County. This family can qualify with an annual household income of $63,000 or less. Help us share this post to help us get the word out. Together we are building homes and building hope. 🏡🔨

Gilmer County PSA: Between now and July 12, Gilmer County citizens are encouraged to participate in a survey to help Gilmer County and the cities of Ellijay and East Ellijay update the county's Joint Comprehensive Plan. It’s always inspiring to surround yourself with other concerned, caring citizens from other communities around the state who step up and make a difference in their communities!! Our traveling team for our local GICH housing team will head home with new ideas and inspiration from our Spring 2024 housing retreat in Tifton, GA. We are thankful for the relationships we’ve made with our partners and that we have such support from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs , the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission, and The Georgia Conservancy!! We also appreciate the partnership and education we receive from University of Georgia with this program!!

One of our partners is our local Habitat for Humanity of Fannin & Gilmer Counties, Inc. affiliate. We are so excited to see this first of two homes being built here in Gilmer. It’s been over 20 years since Habitat has built a home here in Gilmer. This is one more way to create affordable homes in our community. 🏡🔨

We wanted to create a shareable document to help answer some of the questions people have been asking us about our GICH housing team and about the affordable housing we are trying to encourage developers to build in our community. After months of research, interviews with elected officials and representatives of our community, The Georgia Conservancy has released the Gilmer County Housing Study. The Georgia Conservancy was chosen intentionally to do this study because we knew they would want to protect the natural resources and agricultural character that makes up Gilmer County. Thank you to all that came out Monday December 4th for our Town Hall Meeting. Your input was critical to help The Georgia Conservancy finish up our housing study that should be completed in the next week or so and will be emailed out to all who registered to get it at the meeting. The results of the questions asked will be in the study. 🏡

Welcome Anita Hardy! We look forward to continuing our great community partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Fannin & Gilmer Counties, Inc.

We are thrilled to announce the hiring of Anita Hardy as our new Executive Director. Anita Hardy brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership, community engagement, grant writing and more. Mrs. Hardy has a proven track record of success in leading and managing nonprofit organizations and is also passionate about affordable housing and community development. Habitat for Humanity of Fannin & Gilmer Counties has a deep understanding of the challenges faced by families struggling to afford decent housing and we are committed to helping families build and improve places to call home.

As Executive Director, Anita Hardy will be responsible for leading the organization’s efforts to build and improve affordable homes in Fannin and Gilmer Counties. She will also oversee the organization’s fundraising, marketing, and volunteer programs. “I am honored to join Habitat for Humanity of Fannin and Gilmer Counties,” said Anita Hardy. “I am committed to working with our dedicated staff, volunteers, and community partners to make a lasting difference in the lives of families in need. I believe affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities.”
Mrs. Anita Hardy will begin her role with Habitat for Humanity of Fannin and Gilmer Counties officially today December 4th, 2023.

Reminder of the Town Hall Meeting this Monday evening at 6:00 at Ellijay Elementary School auditorium. The Georgia Conservancy will be giving a presentation of the housing study they have done for Gilmer County the last 6 months. This will be an interactive meeting giving every guest the opportunity to answer questions by way of their smart phones. Please arrive at 6:00 to sign in and make sure you’re able to use this technology with your phone. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come!! Be sure to have your voice heard!
