Here’s some clarity on the Safeguarding Youth Training:

🎓 Old YPT (no 90-minute course completed)?
➡️ Full 90-minute course required

⏰ 90-minute course expired more than 6 days ago?
➡️ Full 90-minute course required

🔄 90-minute course expired 6 days or less OR still active?
➡️ Refresher course assigned

📧 Renewal emails will direct participants to “My Training”, where they can select “Take Course” or “Retake Course”. The system will automatically guide them to the correct training based on their status.

⚠️ Important note - Anyone who has completed only the refresher without ever completing the full 90-minute course will still need to complete the full course. Clearing the browser cache may be necessary to ensure the “Retake Course” button routes correctly.

🇺🇸 Local student Max Hondorp is collecting U.S. flags for an Eagle Scout project.

The collection of faded, torn or otherwise no longer suitable for display flags continues through Friday, June 12. Collection boxes are located at East Lansing Fire Department Station 1, 1700 Abbot Road, and at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 955 Alton Road.

The flags will be presented to the Knights of Columbus Council 7816, who will conduct a flag retirement ceremony on Sunday, June 14 (Flag Day).

“Respect for the flag is an important part of Scouting and civic responsibility,” he said. “The U.S. flag is a great symbol of freedom. Given the 250th anniversary of our country, I dedicated my Eagle Scout project to giving our community a convenient way to properly retire worn flags.”

Good luck, Max! 🦅
