Our Flower Pounding workshop on September 9 booked up pretty quickly, but due to the expressed interest in the class we have opened up a second time slot from 5pm - 6pm on the same day! MANY thanks to the Looking Glass Garden Club for supplying the extra supplies!

Hummingbirds are making their way south!

Each fall, these tiny dynamos travel thousands of miles from breeding habitats across Canada and the United States to nonbreeding grounds in Central America. Along the way, they rely on networks of flowering native plants and healthy habitat to fuel their journey.

If you want to help these little jewels on their journeys south, remember to keep your feeders clean! Use a 1:4 white sugar-to-water ratio and change the mixture every few days, especially in warmer weather. No one likes mold or ants ruining their food — hummingbirds included!

🌸 Can you donate a few plant cuttings for our next event? Our club is teaming up with the Wacousta library to host a "flower pounding" workshop on Wednesday, September 9, and we need your help gathering some fresh blooms! If you have any of these growing in your yard and are willing to share a few clippings on or just before September 9, please let us know:
Cosmos, Marigolds, Zinnias, Geraniums, Petunias, Nasturtiums, Coleus, Violets/Pansies... Basically anything thin and colorful works best, as well as any interesting leaves like ferns or vines.
Drop a comment below or send us a direct message if you can help us out. We'll collect them that week so they are as fresh as possible, or better yet you can join us at the event itself! Check out our previous post or the Grand Ledge library for event details. Thank you! 🌿❤️🌻

Try your hand at flower pounding with the Looking Glass Garden Club at the new Wacousta Commons Library and create your own artfully crafted canvas library tote! We will use mallets to transfer natural plant pigments directly onto canvas bags. Great for all ages!
