And just like that… we’re back.

The first day of school has arrived.

For some families, today feels familiar. For others, it’s a brand-new beginning. There are kindergartners walking through the doors for the first time, older students suddenly looking a little taller, teachers welcoming new faces, and parents wondering how summer managed to disappear quite so quickly.

However today feels in your house...exciting, emotional, hectic, hopeful, or a little bit of everything, we’re glad you’re here.

A new school year means new friendships, new teachers, new challenges, new discoveries, and hundreds of ordinary little moments that will somehow become the memories our kids carry with them.

So here’s to 2026–27. To curiosity. To kindness. To trying again. To looking out for one another. And to giving every Red Pine student the chance to have a really good year.

Welcome back, Cardinals.

Let’s make it a great one.

This year, Red Pine is doing fundraising a little differently.

Instead of handing a portion of what we raise to an outside fundraising company, we’re keeping the effort in-houses. So significantly more of every dollar can stay right here at Red Pine.

The fundraiser runs August 27 through September 25, and there are still a few ways to help behind the scenes:

• Brainstorm and coordinate incentives
• Help with Spirit Week, prizes and recognition
• Manage the donation service
• Support promotion and communications

You do not need to be a professional fundraiser.

You do not need to arrive with a 47-tab spreadsheet.

You just need some ideas, a little time, and an interest in helping us build something that works well for Red Pine families and keeps more resources in our school community.

Tonight’s the night, Red Pine.

Back to School Open House is here, and the building is ready to come back to life.

Come drop off school supplies, meet your teacher, and then stick around for a little fun. There’s a scavenger hunt through the school, a PTO booth with an ice cream treat at the finish, a selfie station, Big Red, and a few surprise finds along the way that could even land you some Red Pine swag.

And if dinner is one more thing you’d rather not think about tonight, we’ve got you covered there too: Eggroll Queen, Dominick’s, and Hoppers Mini Donuts will all be on site.

You’ll also find Minnwest Bank joining us!.

Mostly, though, tonight is about that good first-night-back feeling. Kids finding their classrooms. Teachers meeting families. Friends spotting each other across the hallway. A school that’s been quiet all summer suddenly sounding like Red Pine again.

Come say hello, wander a little, grab something to eat, and help us kick off 2026–27 the right way.

It is August.

Which naturally means it is time to start thinking about…Halloween.

We don’t make the rules.

Red Pine’s Fourth Annual Trunk or Treat is happening Wednesday, October 14, from 5:30–6:30 p.m., and there are lots of ways to help make one of our favorite nights of the year happen.

Right now, we’re looking for:

5 Planning Committee members
A Content Creator
20 more decorated trunks
73 candy donations
3 Set-up/Parking Lot volunteers
3 Clean-up volunteers

Some jobs require creativity. Some require candy. Some require approximately 30 minutes and a willingness to move things around.

All of them help create a pretty magical night for Red Pine kids.

We are almost there.

Red Pine’s School Picture Day volunteer schedule has just one shift remaining:

Tuesday, September 22
1:15–3:15 p.m.

That’s it.

Two hours to help keep kids moving, photographers photographing, and Picture Day operating with approximately 38% less chaos.

You’ll check in at the school office when you arrive, get your instructions, and help us finish the day strong.

And if you have ever wondered what hundreds of elementary school children look like after being repeatedly reminded to “give us a nice smile,” this may be your moment.

Tomorrow’s the day.

We’ve officially reached that funny little stretch of August where summer is still summer…but you can see the school year coming around the corner.

The backpacks are starting to reappear. Calendars are filling up. Bedtimes may or may not be undergoing negotiations. And one week from tomorrow, Red Pine is back in session.

But first, we’ve got one more good excuse to get together.

Join Red Pine families at Omni tomorrow, Monday, August 24, for a community giveback day and a little end-of-summer hanging out.

For every item sold, $1 will be donated back to Red Pine PTO.

Come grab something to eat. Let the kids see some familiar faces before the first bell rings. Catch up with people you haven’t seen enough of this summer. Stay awhile.

The classrooms are almost ready. The teachers are almost ready. The kids are almost ready.

The PTO is almost ready.

Red Pine’s Back-to-School Open House is coming up Thursday, August 27, and we could still use a few good humans to help us bring the evening home.

We’re currently looking for:

• 3 more people for the Set-up Crew
• Help at the PTO and sponsor tables
• A Selfie Booth Monitor
• A few people willing to stick around for clean-up

These are simple, day-of roles. No committee meetings. No six-month commitment. No requirement that you know where everything in the school is located.

Just show up, lend a hand, and help us give Red Pine families a really good welcome back.

Because sometimes a great event is simply a lot of people each doing one small thing.

School is almost back.

The backpacks are appearing. Bedtimes are being negotiated. Parents everywhere are beginning to remember what packing lunches every morning actually entails.

Before all of that begins, how about one more chance to simply get together?

Join fellow Red Pine families at Omni Brewing on Monday, August 24 for a community giveback day and a little pre-school-year hanging out.

For every item sold that day, $1 will be donated back to Red Pine PTO, so grabbing something you were probably going to enjoy anyway also helps support our school.

Come for a bite. Stay awhile. Run into somebody you haven’t seen since June. Let the kids burn off some August energy.

And together, we’ll turn a regular Monday into something pretty good for Red Pine.

There are few things better in August than ice cream.

Free ice cream, however, makes a very strong case for itself.

Our friends at Minnwest Bank, and Red Pine PTO Classroom Champion sponsor, are inviting Red Pine families to stop by their Eagan branch tomorrow, Tuesday, August 18, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. for a free cookie dough and ice cream truck.

No fundraiser. No volunteer shift. Just a chance to enjoy something sweet, say hello to some Red Pine neighbors, and squeeze a little more summer out of summer.

Every strong school community has people and organizations willing to step forward and say, “How can we help?”

We are grateful to welcome Minnwest Bank and Derek Boeve as a Red Pine PTO Classroom Champion sponsor for the 2026–2027 school year.
