During last night’s Loco Beach Coconuts vs. Firefighters Banana Ball game at PNC Field, another member of Station 57 was recognized in a special way.

“CPT Abbott” presented his favorite Firefighters players Ben Dum III and Bradford Webb, with Station 57 Challenge Coins. Abbott is currently leading the fundraising campaign for the new Ladder 57 and has already helped raise nearly $2,000 toward the effort.

After learning about Abbott’s dedication and fundraising work, he was invited to meet the team. Following the 5th inning ceremony honoring the late Captain Robert Walsh of Station 57, Abbott, along with the Walsh family joined the Firefighters in the dugout for a memorable experience.

Following the game, the Firefighters team autographed a section of fire hose that Abbott had brought to the game specifically for the occasion.

The Officers and Members of Station 57 would also like to thank the Firefighters team, the Loco Beach Coconuts, and the Savannah Bananas League for the kindness and hospitality shown to the Walsh family during the tribute honoring Captain Robert Walsh, as well as the support shown to CPT Abbott and our department.

Captain Walsh passed away in April 2025 after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He was 49 years old.

During the 5th inning, Captain Walsh, along with his wife Maxine and Robert's sons Christopher and Nick, were recognized on the field during a special tribute by the Firefighters.

The Officers and Members of Station 57 are saddened to share the loss of Boston Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr., who died in the line of duty while operating at a three alarm fire in Dorchester Saturday night.

Firefighter Kilduff was a 24 year veteran of the Boston Fire Department, a U.S. Marine veteran, and a dedicated servant to his community and fellow firefighters.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Kilduff family, the members of the Boston Fire Department, IAFF Local 718, and all who knew and loved him.

Rest easy, brother. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Today is “Save a Life Day” during EMS Week — a reminder that ordinary people can do extraordinary things. Learning CPR and Stop the Bleed can make the difference between life and death in the critical moments before first responders arrive.

This past year, our EMS team was proud to provide public CPR and Stop the Bleed training classes throughout our community, helping equip citizens with lifesaving skills and confidence. Every person trained is another potential lifesaver.

We also need the next generation of responders and EMTs to step forward and serve their community. If you are interested in making a difference, contact our staff by stopping at the station or calling 570-928-8222.

Thank you to everyone who participated and to our EMS professionals who continue to educate, serve, and protect our community every day.
