THE COMMUNION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Grace Fellowship Weekly Food for Thought – 6-7-26

The key to a relationship that is healthy and fruitful is communication. When it comes to a husband and wife, communication is critical to the healthiness of that marriage. When it comes to employer and employee, communication is critical to the success of the business task. When it comes to being fruitful in our walk of faith and Christlikeness, communication with God is critical.

In order for believers to better sense and hear the Holy Spirit, we must have a life of communion with Him. "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen." (2Cor. 13:14 NKJV) There are three elements that Paul tells the Corinthian believers they need in their lives, grace, love, and communion.

Communion of the Holy Spirit is fellowship, conversation, partnership, and intimacy. The Greek word is (koinonia), a beautiful word that really represents the Christian faith. The communion of the Holy Spirit is joint sharing, we speak with Him and He speaks with us.

Communion is prayer, quiet moments of solitude, quiet times of sharing to God your hurts, pains, and needs. It is also times of gratitude to Him for all the blessings and good things He has provided.

As believers we should “walk in the Spirit” (Gal. 5:16), that is basically keeping the lines of communication open all the time between ourselves and the Holy Spirit. We should also have “set” times in which we have communion of the Holy Spirit. Communion of the Holy Spirit is imperative to a healthy walk with God; without it there will be unnecessary frustration and toil.

Paul made this observation, “for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Rom. 14:17NKJV). Communion of the Holy Spirit is connection with the Kingdom of God, and that connection produces righteousness in our lives, peace in our lives, and joy in our relationship with the Holy Spirit. Do you desire your life to be better in certain areas? Communion of the Holy Spirit is your answer.

WHAT IF I SIN AFTER I HAVE BEEN SAVED?

(Grace & Freedom Series by Timothy Tynan)

Let’s look to the scriptures to answer this important question that all believers have asked at some point. Paul said this, “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.” (Rom. 7:19-20) It is hard to imagine Paul saying that sin dwelled in him.

In the writings of John, he says this, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we CONFESS our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” (1John 1:8-10) He went on to say this, “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” (1John 2:1)

After we are saved, there are going to be moments in which we sin. This will continue to occur until corruption puts on incorruption (1Cor. 15:52). When we sin, John tells us to “confess” our sin. Is this something religious we do? Is this something we vocalize out loud? Does this mean going to the altar in the church? Does this mean I must go tell this to my priest or pastor? No, on all these questions.

Confess in the Greek is the word (homologeō), it means to come in agreement with, or to acknowledge. Once the believer in godly sorrow comes into agreement with what they have done, there is mercy and forgiveness from God. Under the New Covenant of grace, the promise is this, “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” (Heb. 8:12)

Remember this, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Rom. 8:1) Living under New Covenant grace there is no condemnation when we sin, however, there can be correction from God when we sin because of God’s love for us. (Heb. 12:5-11) We will sin and fall short but remember the finished work of Jesus and that fact that He has paid for all our sins, past, present, and future.

THE FATHER SENT US ANOTHER COMFORTER – JOHN 14:16

Grace Fellowship Weekly Food for Thought – 5-31-26

The Holy Spirit that God has sent to us to comfort, teach, guide, and speak into our lives will lead us in the same path as Christ, for He is the Spirit of Christ dwelling within us. The Spirit of Christ is going to comfort us with rest and peace, He is going to teach us His ways, guide us into truth, and speak into our lives the things we need to grow in Him and be fruitful in Him. (Jn. 14:6, 16-17, 26; 15:26; 16:13; 1Pet. 1:11)

The Spirit of Christ dwelling within us is the blessing of New Covenant grace. He is the bridge that connects us to God and allows us a relationship with God. He will put His laws in our minds and write them in our hearts. He will open every door necessary for every believer to know Him. He will not condemn us when we fail, He will correct us in love, as the loving Father He is. (Acts 1:8; Gal. 3:14; Heb. 8:10-13; 12:5-11)

He is divine power and energy, and He is everywhere. He can speak into our hearts and minds to reveal truth from some of the strangest places. He can also give us peace and consolation from some of the strangest things. Remember Jesus’ words, “The wind blows (breathes) where it wills; and though you hear its sound, yet you neither know where it comes from nor where it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8 AMPC)

The promptings of the Holy Spirit can come from any place, and He can come when you are least expecting Him. He can speak through a person, a song, through nature, in a dream, and in that still small voice. The question is this, are our minds renewed and open to hear Him speak, or are our minds so cluttered with social media, or the cares and busyness of this life that we are dull in our spiritual hearing? (Heb. 5:11).

Social media, IPhones, computers, music, streaming channels, movies and television are all lawful, however they don’t all build up, and Paul said for believers to NOT be under the control of any. (1Cor. 6:12; 10:23) May we not allow these things to keep us from hearing and sensing Him when He is longing to share something with us.
