Our purpose is to help people find salvation and newness of life through Jesus Christ. Our purpose is to help believers find the blessedness of Biblical Christianity and not the burdens of religion. Our purpose is to help believers experience a Grace filled life of freedom from religious condemnation. Our purpose is to help believers live a simplistic Christianity by being rooted and grounded in the Scriptures.

THE WAY OF AN EAGLE – LIBERTY & FREEDOM

Grace Fellowship Weekly Food for Thought – 10-11-26

The words of Agur in (Proverbs 30:19) are really powerful. He wrote about “The way of an eagle in the air” being something that was “too wonderful.” What makes this reference to nature so wonderful? It is a symbolic meaning, the way of the eagle in the air symbolizes liberty and freedom.

As an outdoorsmen when I observe the birds of Southeastern Oklahoma, I can’t help but be reminded of the liberty and freedom we have through Jesus Christ. Sadly, many are bound in religion and to religious works and have no real understanding of liberty and freedom.

There is just something (wonderful) about the liberty and freedom we have in Christ. Jesus wasn’t sent to this earth just to repair the breach in humanities relationship with God, He was sent to free us from the burden of religion, religious traditions and the commandments of men.

Paul made it clear to the believers in Galatia, “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” (Gal. 5:1 ESV). Paul also spoke of the “glorious liberty of the children of God.” (Rom. 8:21).

When we think of the way of the eagle in the air we see the lack of control from man. This is what liberty and freedom in Christ is, it’s not being under the control of man. We are only under the leading and control of the divine working of Jesus in our lives through the Holy Spirit.

As believers we have the liberty and freedom to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling (Ph. 2:12). As believers we can decide how we are going to live our faith and follow Jesus, even if it goes against traditional forms and the status-quo.

Just as the way of the eagle in the air, so let every believer being fully convinced in their own hearts and minds as to how they will follow Jesus and soar in His presence. (Rom. 14:5). Here is what the way of the eagle allows us to do, “The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves.’ (Rom. 14:22 ESV).

ONE MEDIATOR BETWEEN GOD AND MEN

Jesus is described as the “mediator of a better covenant” in (Heb. 8:6). Paul also speaks of mediation in the book of Galatians. “Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator. A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one.” (Gal. 3: 19-20 NIV).

What is a mediator? According to Strongs Concordance, the mediator is one who intervenes between two, either in order to make or restore peace and friendship, or form a compact, or for ratifying a covenant. Moses was the mediator of the Old Covenant, Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant.

Paul uses similar language in his letter to Timothy, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” (1Tim. 2:5). In three portions of the book of Hebrews Paul makes it crystal clear that Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant. Under Grace we have One Mediator

There is One God, and God is God to the Jews and the Gentiles (Eph. 4:5-6; Rom. 3:30). Moses was the mediator to the Jews only. Jesus is the mediator of all humanity. Jesus is the mediator/restorer of all of us that were alienated from God by law, through His blood and sacrifice we have access to God and the grace to live in relationship with Him.

John made it clear in (John 1:17), “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.” Yes! Grace and truth have come to us through Jesus Christ, that is one of the many blessings of new covenant life.

With Jesus Christ as our mediator of the new covenant, what exactly do we have in this revelation truth? We have the giver of all grace. We have the giver of freedom. We have the Holy Spirit who He has sent to be our guide and teacher, and we have an advocate when it comes to our sinful ways (1John 2:1-2).
