If you've been waiting for the right moment, this is it. Five minutes today means a garden full of color next spring.

If you're short on time here are a few suggestions:

1. Check out our quick reference guides below for what bulbs are available and what bulbs do well in our beautiful Colorado region.

2. Some of your favorites out of stock? Show up early at the bulb pickup dates and locations in October. We might get some extra bulbs from the supplier, and your favorites might be among them! No guarantees, but these things do happen.

3. Your favorites not available? Try something new; you might be pleasantly surprised!

On Monday, the Durango Botanic Gardens welcomed a group of students from Fort Lewis College for a tour and conversation about our gardens and how they have evolved over the past 16 years. The students, primarily from Indigenous traditions, have begun creating their own Indigenous-inspired garden. They appreciated the ideas and guidance presented by Hollis Hassenstein, the developer and lead for the DBG Indigenous Garden.

🌷 The favorites are emerging, and only days left to order!

We know it's hot out there, and it can be tough to imagine next spring with beautiful bulbs popping up everywhere. But we promise: the effort of choosing your bulbs now will have its rewards.

We're just 6 days in, and this year's bulb sale is already bigger than last year's! The early front runners? Amaryllis, Alliums, and Hyacinth are flying.

New to bulbs? Narcissus are a wonderful place to start with showy flowers that are also deer- and rodent-resistant. A win all around.

If you've been meaning to place your order, this is a lovely week to do it. Selection remains strong, and you'll have your pick of the collection.

And if you've already ordered: thank you! Consider sharing this with a neighbor with a garden bed and good intentions. Bulbs make wonderful gifts, and spring is better shared.

Hello Fabulous Durango Gardners,

The wait is over, and the 2026 Bulb Sale is officially open.

Everything you've been mulling over, contemplating, and considering during our bulb preview is now available to order at dbgbulbsale.org, from now through August 14.

A few things to know:

Order early for the best selection. Favorites to sell through in the first week.

Pickup happens at the perfect time, in late October. So your bulbs go from our hands to your garden at their freshest.

And a reminder of what your order does: every purchase funds the DBG volunteers and everything that makes our public garden beds beautiful and healthy.

It's one of our favorite moments of the year! Our Bulb Sale is officially on its way, and as of today, the full preview is open for browsing.

This year's collection is ready for you at our dedicated bulb website: DBGbulbsale.org, where you can explore every variety we're offering this season; varieties of tulips, daffodils, alliums, crocus, and more! Each one is selected to thrive in our high-desert climate and reward you with color from earliest spring through summer.

Here's how it works:

Now through July 31: Browse the preview, make your wish list, and plan your beds.

August 1–14: The sale opens and orders begin. Popular varieties tend to find homes quickly, so your preview homework pays off.

October: Bulbs arrive for pickup just in time for planting this fall. Fresh and ready to go in the ground.

Every bulb you purchase directly supports the Durango Botanic Gardens, the demonstration beds, the education programs, and the volunteers who keep our community's gardens growing.

Mia Fretz using GIS to produce a digital, interactive map for plants with Shirley Krantz in the Youth Garden at Durango Botanic Gardens. The map will be used to maintain plant inventory and for the public to access names and locations of plants in the garden.
