A huge thank you to Dunmore Boy Scout Troop 66 for hosting their annual American Flag Retirement Ceremony this morning.

The ceremony was conducted with the dignity, respect, and patriotism that our nation’s flag deserves. It was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served our country and the importance of properly retiring worn and damaged American flags.

We would also like to thank everyone who attended, brought flags for retirement, and helped honor our veterans. Events like these help keep traditions alive while teaching younger generations the meaning of respect, service, and citizenship.

🇺🇸 Come out this Saturday June 13 at 10:30am and support your local veterans and community!

Join Dunmore Boy Scout Troop 66 for their annual Flag Retirement Ceremony, where worn and tattered American flags will be respectfully and properly retired.

If you have any old or damaged American flags, please bring them with you so they can be disposed of with the dignity they deserve.

During the ceremony, we will also honor and remember our local veterans who have passed by reading their names aloud.

Please come out and show your support for our veterans, our Boy Scouts, and our community. Bring your family, invite your friends, and enjoy free hot dogs and drinks while helping us pay tribute to those who served our country.

UPDATE:

The bathroom toilets have been repaired and are now functioning properly. The plumber spent nearly three hours clearing the severe blockage caused by the vandalism.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and are happy to report that both bathrooms will reopen today!

Unfortunately, we need to address a recent increase in vandalism at Sherwood Park.

Today, both pavilion bathrooms were extensively damaged. Soap dispensers were ripped from the walls, drop ceiling tiles were pushed in, and the toilets were intentionally clogged with paper towels to the point that sewer water began backing up through the floor drains.

***As a result, both bathrooms will be closed tomorrow while professional repairs are made, as we were unable to clear the blockage ourselves.***

This is not an isolated incident. In recent months, there has been repeated damage to the bathrooms and other areas of the park. SYA recently repaired and replaced damaged ceiling tiles and both bathroom doors have already been replaced this week after being kicked, dented, and broken.

Every act of vandalism costs money to repair, money that could otherwise be used to improve our facilities and support our youth programs.

***It’s disappointing that the actions of a few individuals create consequences for everyone who uses and enjoys the park.***

How about those Bucks performers and the Ron Morgan band last night! They were fantastic! Thank you so much! 😊 Come out for the last night of the festival featuring the Holy Cross cheerleaders at 6 followed by the band POP at 7. Hope to see you there! 🤩
