Next year, Hill Neighborhood Association will celebrate 50 years of serving our community. To honor this occasion, we are planning a big community celebration. Food, music, games and more. An event this large takes much planning. HNA would like to form a planning committee for this event. This committe would be responsible to meet independently from general meetings to share ideas, gather information, arrange activities, solicit participation from our Hill Section businesses, and present info at general meetings for vote when necessary. Ideally, we are seeking a diverse group of people with different skills and interests to help us create the event our neighborhood deserves. Please reach out to us today to become involved.

As the Hill Neighborhood Association enters its 50th year of serving the community, it is vital that we fill our open board position. We have big plans for the coming year. In order to make it the best it can be, we need more voices and more hands to make it all happen. The primary duties of the board Secretary is to attend meetings, post and distribute agendas, keep official meeting minutes, post them and keep the files accessible, and assist in managing group correspondence. In addition, as the fourth member of the Executive Board, you will have a voice in planning and executing the activities of the group. As we rebuild the group to it's former glory, THIS is the time to get involved! Please reach out to any of our other board members if you are interested in this position. Thank you!

NayAug Park is honored to host the moving walls honoring our fallen heroes from the Vietnam war, the Iraqi war and the terrorist attacks on 911. Sam Kuchwara, a marine veteran from a family of heroes who have served our country,
and a promise he made to his late brother,to be sure that nobody forgets those who served and lost their lives worked tirelessly to bring this tribute to Scranton and NayAug Park so our citizens will have a chance to see it and pay respects. The wall will be met at montage Mountain on Thursday, October 1 and escorted by motorcyclist and State Police to 81 N and to the Scranton Expressway where it will be met by the Scranton Police and escorted up Mulberry Street to NayAug Park where military veterans will unload the walls and set them up.Times for the procession will be announced closer to the event .Friday the walls will be on display around the area behind the pool and the courts. It will be erected in the grass close to the paved trail making it easily accessible to people of all abilities. At 5 PM on Friday There will be a service in front of the wall. There will be local veterans from the Vietnam and Iraqi wars speaking, and also a survivor from the 9/11 terrorist attack in New York. After the service there will be a tent set up by the museum, and the museum will be offering an education exhibit .
The walls of honor will remain at NayAug Park for viewing Friday, October 2 Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4. They will be disassembled on Monday and on their way to their next venue. This is a great honor for our city and for our park and for the citizens of Scranton, we hope everybody will come out and view the walls and remember those who have lost their lives so that we remain free.

HNA is participating in several Trunk or Treat events this year. We are in need of a volunteer to operate a trunk at Elm Park United Methodist Church on Halloween from 1-3 pm. We will provide the treats to hand out. You just need to decorate your trunk, dress up and have a good time! Please call, text or email us if you are able to help us out at this fun event.
