Because of the impact of HIV/AIDs in the area, there are many children that have been orphaned. This leaves them living with families and neighbors who are already overburdened and unable to provide for their needs. A large number of children are just living on the streets with nowhere to go. Most of these children have never had the opportunity to attend school which is essential to their future.
Our vision is to help provide shelter, nutrition, medicine, and education to those children in need. Not only do the children need support but those living in the community caring for them. This will be accomplished through support groups, clubs, and other various avenues. Educational opportunities and workshops in nutrition, sanitation, healthcare, agriculture, forestry, and business will also be provided for the community to help raise their standards of living. We have been given 15 acres of land in Mansa district for a school, orphanage center, and agriculture center. The foundation is in place and we are working hard to finish the rest of the building. The will provide free tuition for the orphans in the area, uniforms and school supplies will also be provided. In addition, we plan on having a feeding program and after school care. The next step is to build an orphanage center. Those children who are abandoned and have no place to go will be taken in and provided for. An agricultural center will be built to help provide food for the children that attend the school and live at the orphanage center. It will also be an opportunity for skills training for the community members. They will be educated on alternative gardening practices, fish farming, forestry, and animal husbandry.
