Hey Duncannon, if you haven't been to Noye Park in awhile (or even if you have), this week would be a really, really great time to check it out!
This past weekend 30+ incredible volunteers donated their time, energy, muscles, and about 30 gallons of sweat to get more work done in Noye Park than I thought possible in a day. I can't say thank you enough to the incredible crew that showed up and pulled together to do a GREAT thing for Duncannon.
Many of the volunteers didn't live in Duncannon. Most had never even been to Noye Park. But that didn't stop them from treating it like their own home and taking the care to make it shine for all of town to enjoy. Its people like these doing things like this that give me hope for a brighter future. Thanks a million times over to this crew that made the Noye Park Cleanup Crew workday such a huge success.
And just as important as the volunteers were the local businesses that supported those volunteers, a huge hometown shout out goes to the Doyle Hotel, Momma Pat's A Little Taste of Philly Grille, 3 Pups Bakery, Sorrento Pizza, Karns Foods and Lindgren Craft Brewery for providing the all local meals and drinks for the crew (and the Carrie's for organizing and holding down the fort all day).
Stats on the day:
- Over 300 volunteer hours logged
- 20+ truckloads of brush removed
- ~1 ton of logs removed
- 1/4 mile of trail restored and edged
- 10+ different types of invasive species removed
- 2000 shrub stumps hand snipped off
- 1 exhausted and incredibly happy DATC President
