Rancho Los Amigos Foundation

Rancho Los Amigos Foundation We are a nonprofit that provides quality of life programs for patients of Rancho Los Amigos Hospital

Patients at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center come from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. The support of the Rancho Los Amigos Foundation allows these patients to receive treatments and programs that are unfunded by insurance or are otherwise outside of the financial means of the patient or outside of traditional Los Angeles County funding practices. Rancho Los Amigos Nationa

l Rehabilitation Center was established in 1888 when indigent patients from the LA County Hospital were relocated to what was then known as the LA County Poor Farm. Physical and occupational therapy services began in the late 1920's, and Rancho rapidly expanded and received designation as a respiratory center for polio patients in 1951. The Rancho Los Amigos Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization established in 1983, with a mission to raise funds for programs, services and equipment for Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center’s patients and their families. Programs currently funded by the Foundation include: Adaptive Outdoor Adventure, Pediatric and Adult Wheelchair Sports Programs, The Brain Injury Fashion Show, Spinal Injury Games, Roll Around the Ranch, Performing Art of Rancho, Adult and Pediatric Art Programs, Various Support Groups, and a variety of other patient serving programs.

🧶 Healing happens one stitch at a time! Our Adaptive Knitting Program combines creativity and therapy to help outpatients build strength, confidence, and connection through personalized knitting activities.

From improving fine motor skills to supporting emotional well-being, each project represents progress, perseverance, and possibility. With supplies serving as the program's only expense, community support helps ensure these creative opportunities remain available for patients who benefit from them!

With May being Mental Health Awareness Month it reminds us that caring for our mental wellbeing is just as important as caring for our physical health. Through the Foundation- our supported program "Wellness Wednesdays" we are creating intentional moments for our hospital workforce to pause, recharge, and connect.

Wellness Wednesdays reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting the dedicated individuals who care for our community every day. Together, we continue to foster a healthier, more connected workplace where mental health awareness and self-care are encouraged and celebrated. 💚
