***NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE***
Your bargaining team met with district leadership today for a 9th negotiation session. We have been meeting with the district since July 25th 2025. As we have stated in past updates, we have had slow but steady success in our dealings - both sides have come to the table ready to deal – and we have been appreciative of the progress. Today, April 23rd – that changed. The board has decided to change the parameters with which they dealt with our bargaining team. In normal negotiation sessions, both sides present financial proposals, they work and NEGOTIATE to come to an agreement – the agreement being somewhere in the middle. We met with district leadership today and since our board meeting yesterday, they have decided to renege on their last proposal to your classified union. Due to an, “unforeseen financial situation”, PUSD has offered us less than their last proposal. This is not how negotiations work. We are extremely disappointed and to be honest – insulted. CSEA has worked, for years, with the district and board to come to agreements that are mutually beneficial for both parties. As far as this team is concerned, this is an unprecedented move – and we have been doing this for decades. We will ask that you prepare yourselves in the event that your leadership team needs your support. We may ask you to rally and mobilize behind us. We need you to tell the board what they are doing to classified employees is wrong. Classified employees ARE members of this community - an overwhelming majority of US live in Paramount. Our children attend Paramount schools. Our tax dollars and property taxes fund this district. This board needs to do right by their constituents on the negotiating team, in the classrooms, in the cafeterias, in the computer labs, and on the playgrounds.
