White Elephant is on Monday, Oct 19 (in 2 weeks) Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center - WRC. Today we auctioned off 2 early items. 40 round bales of pine straw (courtesy of Colored Pine Straw) that sold to Stephanie Crowe $1100 and the Jack Sasser Plaque high bid from Art Morris $2100. A great start to our annual auction to support Wiregrass Rehabilitation.

If you need to drop off your auction items, bring to Rudd Furniture 1109 West Main.

Today we heard about Fish Research. Chris Gardner is a Research Fishery Biologist with NOAA’s Southeast Fisheries Science Center in Panama City, FL. His work is split between reef fish population surveys utilizing underwater cameras and sonar and deep-sea coral restoration. He specializes in advanced camera systems, remote sensing technologies, technical diving, Remotely Operated Vehicles, and developing new techniques to restore mesophotic and deep benthic communities impacted by the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. He has authored over 30 scientific publications, led 13 research expeditions, and spent countless days at sea. Chris is a lifelong Florida native, an avid fisherman and hunter, and lives in Panama City with his wife and two children.

Today, we heard from Lindsay Cline. She is Director of Government Relations for the Southeast at Hadrian Automation.

Her work across the Maritime Industrial Base and Submarine Industrial Base — advising national government leaders and shaping outcomes on major Navy shipbuilding programs — led her to help bring Hadrian to Alabama and anchor submarine manufacturing on the Gulf Coast.

Previously, as President of Education for Phillips Corporation, she partnered with more than 800 schools worldwide and secured over $30 million in scholarships and infrastructure support, helping establish Alabama as a national leader in CNC and additive manufacturing training.

She began her career in public relations and NASCAR, work that led her to become a national voice on re-engaging young Americans with skilled trades. That path led her to co-found the Build Giants Alabama and Build Submarines partnerships at Auburn University and University of Alabama, forging university and motorsports engagement that pairs sports and engineering to grow the industrial workforce.

Fellow Rotarians, Monday, Oct 19, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. – White Elephant Sale at Rotary Hall.

Our annual White Elephant Sale is right around the corner, and I’d like to share some important reminders. This is our club’s largest regular fundraiser, and it plays a vital role in supporting the capital improvements and needs of the Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center. WRC depends on us, and this event truly makes a difference.
Here are a few key points to keep in mind:

1. Member Commitment:

Each member has a $300 commitment that can be charged or donated:
o $100 for the reverse raffle ticket (already been billed)
o $200 for the auction (your donated item and the item you purchase).
 You may choose to donate an item valued at $200, which fulfills both parts. If you cannot attend, you may simply make a $200 (or more) donation.

2. Tickets: Your White Elephant Sale tickets ($40 for you and a guest) and the raffle ticket charge were on your Rotary bill.

3. Guests: Please invite friends and guests! A bigger crowd means greater success. Guest tickets are $20 each and can be paid for at the door or added to your bill. Heather will be at the entrance to assist.

4. Important Dates:

o Monday Meetings – Please solicit and record large live auction items on the list at the sign-in table. You can also contact Jeni Logan.
o Now through Friday, October 16, 2026 – Drop off live and silent auction items at WRC Rotary Hall. Need help with purchase or delivery? Call Stephanie Walker

o Monday, October 19, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. – White Elephant Sale at Rotary Hall.

Most importantly—come ready to have fun and give generously. This is always one of the most enjoyable events we share as a club, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate fellowship while supporting a great cause.
