Forestry is a major backbone of Alabama’s economy, and biotechnology is helping shape its future.
We are proud to announce the successful wrap-up of an impactful pilot initiative supported by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA). Led by Dr. Josh Clevenger, the project brought together scientific research, education, and industry partners to explore how genomic tools can support timber identification and sustainable forest management across the state.
As part of this initiative, HudsonAlpha has established a dedicated research tract in Headland, Alabama, creating a living laboratory for field studies and sample collection. Additionally, hands-on forestry and genetics learning modules will soon bring this science to life for students in the Wiregrass!
Thank you to ADECA and our state and industry collaborators for investing in the future of Alabama forestry and Agtech. Stay tuned because we’re just getting started on unlocking new opportunities for the forest products industry!
